Is it weird to be genuinely sad, upset, and heartbroken over the senseless death of someone you've never met?
He was a man of questionable character with behavior issues on and off the field, but he was a maturing individual and not-to-mention, a godlike beast of a football player. Sean Taylor, #21, free safety for the Washington Redskins, died this morning at the age of 24 after being shot yesterday by an intruder at his home in a supposed burglary attempt. Last I checked yesterday, he was demonstrating some physical response, and there was some hope as he squeezed a nurse's hand; but I woke up this morning to this dagger of tragedy. And now it's just sadness. Man, he was only a year older than me.
The NFL announced every player in the league will wear a No. 21 decal on his helmet at this weekend's games to honor Taylor. Redskins players will wear the decal for the remainder of the season. I can just give my well wishes and condolences to the Taylor family.
Rest in peace, Sean Taylor. Your bruising tackles will surely be missed.
