Argo, Fuck Yourself, Zero Dark Thirty aka Homeland with a better Carrie, Silver Linings Playbook aka
Since last week I saw these 3 movie and the best was Argo. Let's start with Silver Linings shall we?
ps: I will refer Silver Linings as SLP, and Zero Dark Thirty as ZDT.
I was certainly curious about SLP since this movie is nominated for Oscars in 5 different categories. Best Actor for Bradley Cooper, Best Actress for Jennifer Lawrence, Best Director, Best Picture and Best Supporting Actress. What did I expect? Something so revolutionary in the field of romcom that it deserves every nomination. What did I get? A romcom where I can guess everything. Jennifer Lawrence was flat. Bradley Cooper was good though I couldn't feel his character's bipolar. Why did this movie get a nomination for best supporting actress? The mother can be taken out of equation easily. I'd give 6 or 7 to this and be done with it. Nothing special. I even skipped parts of it because I was so bored.
ZDT, Jesus fucking christ on a pogo stick with disturbing shit. This is the second Kathryn Bigelow and in my opinion they drag. sometimes you feel like she put these unnecessary shots in movie. It was also very disturbing with 9/11 sounds and torture scenes. Jessica Chastain was really good at portraying the obsessive officer Maya. I don't think I will ever go and watch this again.
Argo, fuck yourself. I really really liked this one. Ben Affleck actually cared about making it like 80s. And since everyone knows the end it's basically selling you the story and he really managed it. I was so nervous during the last half and hour and I actually know about the ending. Anthony Mendez wrote his memoirs about this operation in another book and it's out. Go and check it out at Amazon. I know some parts of it are not historically correct but in the end it's a movie based on this operation not a documentary about it.
Now funny anecdote, Kyle Chandler! He plays someone important from the government in both ZDT and Argo. I was like dude !? did you spend all your year selecting similar roles? I love him though. Couch Taylor forever.
