Status update!

Wow, it's been a really long time since I updated this. In all likelihood, no one is reading it, so I'm mostly doing this for my own edification.

Let's see... last update was July. So, since then, I have:

-moved back to MN, thank God. Slept on the floor for a couple weeks while my room was being repainted, and then moved back in. Room's a nice, happy, bright yellow colour now.

-finally, finally got a job in August, as a salesperson at Teavana... in Ridgedale. I was chuffed as hell to be working at Teavana, because I love Teavana, but it's a pain in the ass that it's in Ridgedale, which is really far away from my house. I can commute via bus, it just takes about 2 to 3 hours one way. But it pays me money, and at this point I'm just happy to be employed at all.

-finished my first-ever fanfic, which was a Pirates of the Caribbean epic. It turned out pretty well, I reckon, lasting about four years and 47 chapters. I was just proud of myself for finishing it.

-got obsessed with the Showtime series The Tudors. I like to watch it and shout at the television whenever I see something historically inaccurate, or an anachronistic costume, or a "fetching" hat (for "fetching", read "hideous").

-started writing another fanfic, set in the Tudors-verse.

-got a virus in my computer, and consequently had to take it to the Geek Squad and shell out a rather lot of money to get it debugged. Good thing I was employed. This occurrence also curttailed my failblogging down to nothing, since that was where I got the virus.

That's about it. Right now I'm killing time at a Perkins in Brooklyn Park as I wait for my 11 o'clock interview with this insurance place. I dunno if this Primerica place will be able to lure me away from Teavana, which is a place I really love working (I get an amazing employee discount, I like the people I work with, I get to drink all the tea I want at work, and I really, really love tea), but I also need a job with full-time, reliable hours (so I can cave to the inevitable and get a car). I'm just keeping my options open. I dunno if anything will come of this interview, but I'll see what's up. And then I'm going to TeaSource in Minneapolis to get some pu-erh. We have pu-erh at Teavana, but nothing unflavoured, and I prefer my pu-erh unflavoured. Besides, my favourite of the three pu-erhs at work got updated, and now it seriously smells and tastes like lemon pledge. Yuck. I'm going back for my bird's-nest pu-erh.

So yeah. That's the news in brief.

Edit, 3 hours later:

Okay yeah, so in all likelihood I totally won't be working with the Primerica people.  It seems to be a lot of drumming up your own business.  If you can't find people to sell to, you won't make money.  The lady was rather vague about the source of one's income and there aren't any benefits offered.  Plus, it's in fricking Brooklyn Park.  Bugger that for a game of soldiers.

However, I am currently killing some time at TeaSource, and it turns out that they are hiring.  Dude, I totally want to work here!  There's a lot more kinds of teas, and you can wear jeans to work.  The position is for part time, but that would be perfect!  My Teavana hours are going to be whittled down to part time pretty soon, and so I could work at Teavana sometimes and sometimes at TeaSource and thus have all tea, all the time!  The shop is in Minneapolis, so if I could pull enough money to get a flat in/near the city and just bus/bike it, I'd be set!

Of course, I'm getting ahead of myself.  Nothing will probably come of this, but I really hope something does!  I'd love to work here!  I really, really like tea, and working with it all the time would be pretty sweet.
