I think Nagini is mad at me
So, I'm down in Texas now.
It was a pretty brutal drive; about 17 hours. Grandpa and I did it in one go. I was out of bed at 5 am, and we left the house at 6. I ingested some 5 hour energy at about 5 pm, and we rolled into Salado at 11. Also, Kansas was on fire.
But yeah, I've been spending my time getting settled in and hooking up the internet and applying for jobs and starting my certification classes. I think I'm mostly settled in, now. Things are going pretty well; there are going to be some adjustments.
At this point in my life, I'm kind of smartass on reflex. A lot of my friends are also smartass, and if they're not, they at least appreciate it. Hell, my mother thinks smartass is funny as hell. However, my grandparents are not as appreciative, let us say. There's going to be some adjustment due to the fact that my automatic responses to a lot of questions are quasi-offensive to the grandparents. I think it's a generational gap thing.
Plus, our household up north is weird, in the sense that mother and brother and I are all pretty... open. Yeah, let's call it open. We don't really pull anything back. Whereas down here with the grandparents... suddenly, there's a big list of things I can't say and can't talk about. I'm learning to bite my tongue. A useful skill, but kind of a pain in the ass.
So yes. Aside from these conflicts of personality and generation, things will hopefully end up well.
Although Nagini seems to be mad at me. I don't think she appreciated the move down. When I had her out last night, she pooped on my books, and this afternoon when we were watching Mythbusters and she was crawling around on me, she bit me. It's possible that she was just stuck in my hair (she had wound herself weirdly around my ponytail) and needed some extra leverage to get free and didn't realise that she was actually biting my skin. Of course, it's also possible that she's pissy because of the move. Either way, I was all, "Nagini, what you bite me for?"
So anyway, that's kind of the state of things at the moment. I'll write again if anything changes.
