So today was the day of the prerelease for Rise of the Eldrazi. It was my first prerelease in the 16 years of me playing Magic: the Gathering. I have to say, it was a blast. Saw some old friends I've not played with in ages and met some new ones.

Getting to the event was a little trouble. To start it off time got the best of me and it was 12:30 when I realized I had to eat lunch and still head up there. Well after food arrived via my awesome Wife, I was set to take off. Little did I know what awaited me outside. Upon walking to my car I saw my back passanger tire was completely flat. My buddy Stephen was already up at the shop and asked for them to hold till I got there. As I was changing the tire to put a spare on to rush up there, I noticed the spare in my car, which I've never used, was not for my car. With literally no time to spare my wife came to the rescue and took me to the shop. When I arrived I feared the worse because all of the players were already building away on their sealed decks, but luckly the shop owner was awesome and let me join in still just with less build time, which was fine cuz I was done before many of the others. I busted open all 6 of my packs in a hurry to see what exactly I had gotten. I pulled some niffty stuff, a Kor Spiritdancer, a foil Kazandu Tuskcaller, Sphinx of Magosi, Nirkana Revenant, Magmaw, and many great commons/uncommons. I set out to see which colors to go with and if was going to have to go with 3 or my preferred 2. I managed to see that Green, Red and then Black were my best picks with my card pool. Here is why:

Green

Joraga Treespeaker

This card came to me in almost every single game, and my whole deck was better for it. First turn drop it. Second turn drop a second land and level it up, then use that two green mana for somthing else. That mana acceleration in this format helped a ton!!.

Kazandu Tuskcaller

This one did not find its way to me like the Treespeaker, but the games it did, once it got on the field it was only a matter of a few short turns before it was over. Those elephants were nasty! Even with it's weak 1/1 body I still managed to keep it around by avoiding burn with pumping it with cards like Prey's Vengeance

Ondu Giant

This guy was a big reason for me to want to play green. The 2/4 body with the mana acceleration made it a great pull, and with 2 of them I was set. Once they hit the board they rarely left it.

Broodwarden

With only the 1 it saw little pulls, but it still won me every game it dropped in. Using it as a follow up from Emrakul's Hatcher was always a good stomping.

Red

Brimstone Mage

A limited format Superstar! With a growing body from the level ups and even more pinging fun, it was a no brainer to use him.

Emrakul's Hatcher

Not sure much is needed here. 5 mana for a 3/3 that drops out 3 0/1 tokens that can be sac'ed for coloreless mana!!

Magmaw

This guy got dropped twice by me, and both times cleaned the board and won the game!! Great limited card, constructed probably not.

Colorless

Artisan of Kozilek

Just casting this guy reanimates another creature, even if he is countered!!!! nothing more to say...btw he is 10/9

Hand of Emrakul

A 7/7 with Annihilator 1 that I can play with no mana just by sac'ing 4 spawn tokens!!! Ace!!

I've included my build in a word file here. I have to say, the green/red is nice in limited here. I'll update more tomorrow with actually plays and cool combos I saw on the field for now, I'm tired and off to play a few games with my wife before bed.
