is this a crisis or a dilemma?

I know I want to work with kids.
I just don't know if the classroom is the right setting for me.
I just want to plaaaaay with them!
My ideal job would be to be a mommy.
But we don't get paid to be mommies, unfortunately...

Other than teacher, my option with an education major would still be something in a school. Or I could be a child life specialist, but that would require psychological and medical knowledge, as well as the strength of spirit to be around dying children everyday. I'm tearing up just thinking about it, so I don't think that's the best job for me.

Other jobs with children are either medical in nature (no thanks), deal with difficulty (ie: social worker), or do not pay much more than motherhood (face painting! child care provider!).

How can I make money for playing with kids all day, preferably without switching my majors?

PS: One of the things I wanted to do while teaching was write children's books. Looking at the title of this entry just gave me an idea for two characters... Hint: one's name is Emma.
