A long update from the most awesome weekend in my life!

Here's my weekend in a snap shot:

Friday I went to Stanton/Wilmington to take my Official Practice Test for the GED. Way too easy, in my opinion. Woke up at 5:00am and got ready to go, took all my stuff out to the car for the weekend and got on my way around 6:00am. It was quite nice waking up and leaving before the sun rose... quite a peaceful ride. The GPS confused me once I was about 1 mile from the Stanton campus of Delaware Technical and Community College, which is the ONLY place in Delaware you can do anything for your GED beside taking classes, which thankfully I don't have to do. It was telling me I was right next to the place, but I didn't see it anywhere. It didn't tell me I had to go turn left on to Campus Boulevard. Doh! I got there way before it began, so I sat in the cafeteria until they came to get us. There was a cute girl there who kept to herself, she reminds me of me about two years ago - goth but not too goth, as she was wearing jeans and a hoodie and underneath that peeking out was a heather gray polka dot shirt... *smile* not that I was paying attention or anything. She wound up being the person sitting next to me once we got in the classroom, which amused me greatly :). Found out that her name is Kelly, which amused me even more! When she left the room to use the bathroom I wrote down my contact info and put it under her test... I think she found it - it was gone when she left.

Anyway, the instructor for the GED OPT was hilarious. He's a retired executive from JP Morgan, which merged with Chase a while back to make Chase Manhattan. He was recounting some of his stories from working there, and he said before they merged, JP Morgan used to be at least 60% women on the board of directors, but now it is 100% men. Sad if you ask me. He kept referring to it as an Old Boy's Club. Guess that is corporate America for you. Anyway, he really didn't care about the rules for the test. First section we did was the math with calculator. Each section had a set amount of minutes to do that section, and what you're SUPPOSED to do is put down your pencil if you're done with that section and wait until everyone else finishes to go on to the next. Well, he didn't really follow those rules, and he said "You didn't get this from me, but, if you finish section one, you can move on to section two and use the calculator until its time for us to move on to the next section" so technically he let us cheat... The entire rest of the test went this way and I wound up getting out of there at about 1:30 vs. 2:30 like we were supposed to. What a great guy! Hehe...

After I left there, I had to wait for Larry to tell me that he and my dad were on their way back from Virginia because I had to meet them at the 301/50 split to pick up Larry to bring him to Wilmington because we were staying the weekend up there. I wandered over to the Christiana Mall to see if they had an Old Navy because I needed to get something nice to wear to the theater on Sunday. I didn't find an Old Navy, but I did find a Hot Topic who had a bunch of stuff on clearance.

I got those cute things there for like, ten bucks if that. The pink one on the right is a bobble head! All of them are just too cute. After I bought those Larry txted me and told me he was on his way so I left and headed down 301 to the Prime Outlets where I was meeting them. What a long and boring drive! 301 is the most plain route on the Eastern Shore, I will tell you that. At least I had Larry on the way back to keep me company.

We met up with Melinda and her boyfriend Richard (who looks nothing like I expected him to... that boy needs to update his myspace pictures) at this place called Golden Castle Diner. We found a coupon in our entertainment guide and it didn't say Diner in the title, so we were a bit surprised to find out that is what it was. We had high expectations when we walked in because they had the desserts sitting right there and they looked oh so yummy. We eagerly ordered, I got the chicken tortellini soup and chicken alfredo. Larry got an open face reuben, Melly a chicken parmigiana with linguine alfredo, and Richard got some kind of sandwich that had french toast as the bread. Everything looked really good, and the soup I had tasted pretty good, too, so I hoped everything else would. I was horribly wrong! Usually you would expect food to taste bad or good, but this food had no taste whatsoever. The chicken parmigiana was HUGE, it took up one plate by itself so they had to bring a separate plate for the linguine. Melly couldn't eat it, and the men both tried it and they were disgusted. Larry usually can eat most anything and even he thought it was bad. The waitress was horrible on refills and when she finally came back to ask us how everything was, we told her we couldn't eat the parm and she took it off the total which was all good, but she just brought us the check after and didn't even ask us if we wanted dessert, which we were all kind of looking forward to. *shrugs* well, I went out to the car, Melly & Richard went to pay and Larry went to the rest room. Apparently they had an issue with the coupon because it was for bogo entree up to $10. They didn't want to honor it because they took off the parm. Larry would have none of this so he went back in, and since he was already wearing his business clothes from the day, he put on his suit jacket and brought in his briefcase and walked out with an additional 20% off the bill. We gave the woman no tip whatsoever.

From there we went to the movie theater to see Last House on the Left.

What a fucking crazy movie. While we were in line to get our tickets, we saw this:

Oh I'm so giddy with excitement for this!!! I sent this picture to everyone on my phone... *grin*

So, yeah, Last House on the Left. F-U-C-K-I-N-G Insane. That is all I can really say.

OKay, so that whole rape scene? Not as bad as everyone cut it up to be. Really, it is necessary for the development of the plot, so I have no problem with it. That may piss a couple people off on my friends list, but the R rating for this movie was a real gift, it should have been NC-17 or something stricter.

First of all, why would you ever go to a stranger's hotel room for pot? Really? Are you that stupid? No wonder you died, bitch. Secondly, where have I seen the actor that plays Krug before? He looks like an older Xander for the people I know who watched Buffy. Oh yeah, he was on a couple of episodes of Terminator: The Sara Connor Chronicles.

I love movies where the bad guys get what they deserve. I especially love movies that do it in such gruesome ways that make even ME shy away from the screen and plug my ears and go "Lalalalalalalalala" until its over with. I find it awesome that they utilized a microwave in such an awesome way at the end. Also, the end was very reminiscent of the show Dexter, in the way he paralyzes people and kills them meticulously. I was highly amused to find out that the guy who played the father, Tony Goldwyn, was actually on an episode of Dexter. Wonder where they got THAT idea, heh. Also, I was staring at Monica Potter, the mother, for the longest time and I found out that she plays Lori on Boston Legal. All kinds of geeky goodness in this movie that is supposed to be straight horror. I think I'm going to go see it again this weekend with my new friend Jenny if she comes this way.

After that, Melly and Richard had to go home, and Larry and I went to our hotel. We stayed at the Double Tree by Hilton in Wilmington.

$63 a night thanks to Hotwire.com. RAC rate for that hotel is close to $140 after taxes per night, so we made a killing. Nice warm cookies upon check in and check out, pool, fitness center and right in the middle of Wilmington so everything was close by when ever we wanted to do something, we didn't even have to drive, with the exception of going to Rocky Horror on Saturday Night, but that is because that was in Newark, not Wilmington. Anyway, hotel room was awesome and the bed was even better. I think I am in love with pillow top mattresses. Larry was not so impressed with the bed, but eh, he likes a firm bed I guess. We fell asleep almost instantly after getting in the room... had some wonderfully romantic lovins... Probably the best I've had in a few months anyway. But you're not here to hear about that.

Saturday we woke up and were too late for the breakfast buffet, so we headed out for lunch. We couldn't find the Chinese food place that we saw on Google maps, so we wandered for a bit until we came to Qdoba's Mexican Grill. As soon as we walked in, I was instantly reminded of Chipotle, which to this day is still my favorite fast food joint in the world, but, Qdoba's is making a close run for second. It was exactly like Chipotle, even the way you eat your burrito! Here, have a ever so nom nom picture.

I got a chicken burrito with cilantro lime rice, pinto beans, queso cheese, shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo salsa and to top it off, Tabasco milder jalapeno hot sauce. *salivates* man, I want to go back. The only difference I found at this place vs. Chipotle is the fact that you can put melted queso cheese on your burrito. They had a rewards card, so I grabbed it and hopefully I will go back there again. They're apparently all over the country. Nom.

We walked back toward the hotel and the road in front of the hotel was blocked off and a St. Patty's day parade was about to take place! So so many hot girls in very cute outfits dancing in the streets. Here are a couple pictures I found to be odd...

Yeah, that is a penguin and a bluegrass marching band in Eskimo outfits.

A lot of the trucks/floats were throwing candy and beads, I managed to grab 3 strands of beads, none of which had shamrocks on them. I tried to get the shamrocks but they were snobs and threw them all to kids who will probably throw them away or break them by the next day, not keep them as a memento like me! Gr. At least I had my dice beads to fall back on for the rest of the night.

Stephanie got to our hotel at about 10pm. She was meeting up with us to go to the Rocky Horror Picture Show that a group called Formal Dress Optional does every week in Newark.

I have been quite a few times, but never on a holiday. There were so many scantily clad women wearing all green, however few "all" means. One girl stripped completely to her undies and then took off her bra to reveal green shamrock pasties. I also poked one girl's ass, and she turned around and told me I could grab it and smack it if I wanted, so who was I to refuse? *sigh* the most perfect buttocks one could ever have and I got to grab and smack it. For some reason I think this week was very different. We actually got to throw things like toilet paper and for some reason, toast... Also, the callbacks were slightly different, and the main/first one I know is when Daryl (announcer) says "Before we begin, we have a few rules we would like to tell you" then the audience says "Fuck the rules!" Daryl counters "You fuck the rules!" everyone says "We all fuck the rules, GANG BANG THE RULES!" well, they would say that about EVERYTHING all night. Quite amusing. "I pledge alegiance, to the lips, of the rocky horror picture show. And to the decadence, for which it stands, one movie under djkskhgsg. With Sensuous Daydreams, Erotic Nightmares, and Sins of the Flesh for All!"

Hehe...

Anyway, after that we went to Denny's which, was okay for beings so packed. Never go to a Denny's at 3am during a holiday drinking weekend. Oy. Larry slept in the car for a bit and Steph and I had a bit more bonding conversation. I like the girl, I really do. We then headed back to the Double Tree and watched a bit of TV and I'll let your imagination fill in the rest of the story *wink*. Unfortunately Steph had to leave around 5a to get back to Baltimore to help her family do more tiling in the basement. Unsure as to when we're going to see her next, but I do hope it is soon.

Larry and I managed to get a couple of hours of sleep before we woke up and went downstairs to the Breakfast Buffet. Best. French. Toast. EVAR! Everything else left me wanting a bit more in the quality department, but the french toast made up for it. We went back upstairs and got ready for the show. Larry bought me tickets to go see an Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin.

We found out that the DuPont theater was only three blocks from where we were staying so that worked out perfectly. We walked to the theater after checking out of the hotel and we got ambushed by the ending of a half marathon that was being put on in front of the theater. I got a few pictures while we were waiting to go into the theater.

Larry got all dressed up... I love how he looks in this picture. *melts*

The show was very amusing. Of course you all know Mandy Patinkin from Princess Bride (My name is Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die) and Patti LuPone has done a lot on broadway but she was Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd on Broadway in 2001, which is what I know her from. I was a little sad that they didn't do anything from the Sweeney Todd repertoire, as they were doing a bunch of songs from other Sondheim shows, but at least they did Somewhere That's Green from Little Shop of Horrors. It was kind of interesting hearing it sung from a man's point of view :). Mandy has a wonderful voice, I absolutely adore that man. :)

After that, we walked back to the hotel to get the car and I noticed something about Wilmington. There are a LOT of swastikas in the architecture of the area. I didn't take a picture of the ones in the DuPont Theater, but the border around the top of the hallways has them, and this was one on the side of a building downtown.

So, wtf Wilmington? Were you built by Nazis? Anyway...

I have one more picture for you... Larry being a goof, as he always is. He saw this statue and just HAD to stop and get his picture next to it.

I don't think we even saw who it was a statue of. *shrugs*

Anyway, I won't keep you any longer. I'm sure 90% of you stopped reading this a while ago.

Oh yeah, Saturday marked 1 year until our wedding. We were supposed to get married ON Saturday, but, we postponed it a year. *sigh* still a bit off about it, but what can I do? Next year will be a blast, though! We just kept saying that this weekend was the Honeymoon Rehearsal :)

love, pictures, larry
