Blaise was pretty sure he had the Kindred equivalent of a headache. His mind was so full of stress that he had a sensation that it was painful. He even allowed himself the hint of a sigh of relief as he exited Rory's hospital room, even if he was nervous about leaving the injured Scot alone with his brother now the restraints were gone. He understood why the soldiers had resorted to that tactic. Riley had been lucky to just escape with a concussion because Rory could have slammed his head a lot harder against that wall and even killed him if he was enraged enough. Blaise wasn't content with the situation at all. In fact, the more he thought about it and the more Brujah he saw coming out in Rory, the more it bothered him. This wasn't Rory, not according to what everyone was saying, and the longer he took to come out of these the effects, the longer it could take to get him back. In fact, he might never quite be the same again. There was even a chance he could get out there and walk right into another group of rebel Brujah and ask to be Embraced how he was right now, and Blaise just simply couldn't let that happen. He would do whatever it took to stop it.
Juliette was sitting in a large and clinical-feeling waiting room that apparently had enough security to cover a small country to ensure anyone put there to wait, stayed there and didn't try to infiltrate the main and secure areas of the facility. She was sitting away from Buffy, who was with Xander and Rory's Kindred friend, Airlie. No magazines were being read, no one looked relaxed. Blaise wondered for a moment why they were even all lingering there, but he assumed it was in hope of some sort of positive progress. Apparently Sergeant Finn had gone home to rest after the hit to the head, but was on-call if anything changed. As far as Blaise could deduce, the American soldier hadn't come into work that morning so it had been his 2IC that signed the orders to cease the sedatives.
Blaise momentarily met Buffy's gaze when he entered the waiting room, but he broke it as soon as it connected. He couldn't decide if he was still upset with her or not. Basically, he was just upset with the situation on a whole. It wasn't doing his ailment any good. In fact, the more he struggled to get through to Buffy, the worse it felt like it got. He was just a step away from cutting his losses and giving up. Maybe she just really wasn't capable of being what he needed. "Juliette. Viens ici, merci," he requested quietly, remaining near the door.
Juliette had been aware of Blaise before he spoke, his presence hard to ignore. She had had no wish to play happy families with the others in the waiting room, choosing to segregate herself. The knowledge of Rory having a brother was still hard to digest, just like the idea that Rory was under the influence of Brujah. She still couldn't help the jealousy she felt at strange Kindred having tasted his blood before she was ever going to get a drop. If he was going to be under the influence of anything, she wanted it to be Toreador.
She slid from her seat and came to Blaise's side, not saying a word or even acknowledging the others. They would not miss her. As they turned away from the waiting area Juliette raised an eyebrow. "Ce qui s'est passé, mon loup? Is everything alright?"
Blaise turned his back on the rest of the waiting room to walk back out into the corridor. Everything would come to light eventually. He didn't have the energy to deal with anything but the direct matters at hand right now. "He has not taken kindly to his brother's presence," he admitted, pausing once they were out of hearing distance of the waiting room. He folded his arms across his chest and looked over at a mirror on the wall, though he could tell there were people on the other side of it watching them. He didn't care, he was used to being in this place. They all knew what he was and why he was here. It was somewhat comforting, in a sense. "He is awake, but apparently things have been quite estranged between them. The brother has suggested your presence may be worth an attempt. Indeed, nothing else seems to be working."
"Moi?" Juliette couldn't help the slight surprise in her voice, nor the fact that the prospect of seeing Rory was something she wanted more than anything. She wanted to believe that she could calm him even if she was sure she'd only inflame him more. How could he not blame her for what had happened? If he even did understand what had happened. She knew what would need to be done if it came down to protecting him and everything else, and Juliette had already made up her mind that she would be the one to do it. "If you're really sure. I suppose his brother's presence was unexpected, so no wonder he hasn't taken well to it."
Blaise gave a small shake of his head as he started to head in the direction of the medical clinic again. His expensive leather shoes making soft footfalls on the sterile tiled floor. "He seemed indifferent to the unexpected nature to it. He was not surprised or shocked to see his brother, he just went from sleeping to awake and angry he was there. The brother removed the restraints, and I cannot disagree that it was a good move. Tying him up will not ease the anger, it will increase it. The brother is unarmed, however, and unprotected. He is the one who is going to get hurt the most if things take a bad turn. He is resolved to remain there, though. I am not sure about anything in this situation anymore, but it is worth the attempt," he agreed reluctantly. "You should understand, mon amour, that he is very much not himself. You will see that in even just his eyes."
Juliette tucked her dark hair behind her ears. "Oui, of course. I had not expected the Brujah to leave him just yet. It must be confronting for the brother as well. Especially when he does not even understand what happened. He might know about Kindred, but I doubt he's ever seen someone nearly Embraced. Not like this. And not his brother. Mon dieu, how quickly everything has become complicated. At least with two of us in there we might be able to stop Rory from hurting his brother if he hasn't already."
Blaise made a soft noise of agreement, even if he wasn't sure how he felt about the brother knowing about Kindred. Blaise had assumed initially that it had been because of Airlie MacKenzie. She had been the messenger after all. But he was sensing that Ventrue link that he couldn't shake, and Airlie was Toreador, through and through. She was a true artiste, and highly talented, just like Juliette. In fact, Blaise knew if the Kindred childer let Juliette close, Juliette would take her under her wing and teach her how she deserved to be taught. "We shall see," he murmured, unable to commit himself to any deductions. He didn't know how Rory was going to take to Juliette's presence. It could literally go either way. They reached the clinic and he held the door open for Juliette to enter.
Juliette wasn't sure how to take Blaise's silence. As dark and mysterious as he could come across, the truth was he always managed to be talkative around her. Usually silence meant he was deep in thought and even Juliette was at a loss as to know what exactly it was he was thinking. Probably wondering if this really was a good move. Juliette touched a hand to her stomach as she straightened her posture and readied herself for what she was about to see. She half expected to see Rory with his brother pinned against the wall, but the two seemed to be keeping their distance. Rory's gaze was firmly on his brother though, clearly seeing him as the current threat. "Mon amour," she said softly as she moved closer to Rory's bed.
Rory turned his head to look over his shoulder and promptly rolled his eyes, turning back to glare at his brother. He had to have something to do with this, right? "Oh fuckin' brilliant," he said sarcastically. "Bringin' in the fuckin' cavalry, are you? Lost your balls, Logan? Cannae mind you even had any to fuckin' start with. Why must I be surrounded by fuckin' arseholes?!" he added in a growl and this time, actually got up off the bed to he was facing te three of them. Then he just started to laugh, but there was no humour in it. "What is this, a fuckin' intervention? I cannae even begin to wonder what the fuck it was that possessed any of you to assume I would want to see your fuckin' faces anywhere near me! So take a clue, and get the fuck out of my sight!"
Uncharacteristically, Logan shot the woman an apologetic look, as if it was his fault his brother was being an arsehole. At the same time, however, he wanted her to be able to work some sort of fucking lover or vampire mojo and just make the whole thing better. He didn't know what this was happening, and he just wanted his brother back. "Rory, just hear her oot, dude. She might be able to help."
Blaise actually winced at this, as the words left the Scot's mouth. Hell, nothing good could come of this, and he nearly grabbed Juliette's arm and got her away from the situation immediately. As far as he was concerned, there was no way Rory was just going to smile and say 'Okay, brother, let's do that' and have them all in a happy group hug.
Juliette tried not to react to Rory's taunting. It wasn't him. Not completely. "No intervention, Rory. Just friends concerned about you." She worked on holding his gaze, tempted to go against his wishes and start to use the Persuasion on him. Maybe it would calm him down. Or at least distract him. "You can tell us to get fucked, to fuck ourselves, to fuck off... Any charming combination, but we're not going anywhere."
"You dinnae get to fuckin' control me, you selfish bitch!" Rory exploded, turning on Juliette and grabbing her wrists to try and restrain her from getting anywhere near him. He wanted her to hurt just like she had fucking hurt him, and now he had his opportunity. He didn't care who or what she was, she just had to hurt. Logan just reacted, even if he was completely out of his depth here. He made a grab for his brother, throwing his arms around his shoulders in an attempt to stop him hurting Juliette. The force of him and Rory ended up knocking her into the wall, but Rory's attention was pulled away from her enough to turn on his brother. Rory elbowed Logan in the stomach to get out of his hold and then spun around to slam his fist into the side of his face. It really was like he was seeing red. Why couldn't they just listen to him when he told them to get the fuck away from him? He wanted to hurt them... but he just didn't know why. It didn't matter why anymore... did it?
Blaise's own animalistic senses had kicked in as soon as Juliette was attacked. No Kindred could witness his mate getting hurt without reacting. His eyes flashed to an intense and bright silver, and in the blink of an eye, he had pounced on Rory, shoving the brother out of the way. No one would have had a chance to protest or react. His fangs descended and he bit down abruptly on Rory's throat, feeling the blood rush into his mouth. He had the Scot pinned sharply against the wall as the rush hit him from the feed. Rory's reaction was to try and struggle at first. No Brujah state of mind would willingly take a Ventrue feed without a fight, but Blaise's Kindred strength overpowered the Scot, who was still human at heart, completely and without struggle, and he had Rory fully restricted to respond. He didn't stop, he kept feeding, feeling Rory's hand soon come to rest submissively on his hip as he continued to drain him.
The shock of being thrown into a wall wore off the moment Juliette saw Blaise go for Rory. Her lips curled back and before she could stop herself she let out a ferocious snarl of disapproval, and anger. Blaise might have been her mate, but no way did she approve of him draining Rory. "Non! You do not get to do this, you do not get to be the one," she growled out as she started to pace up and down as she watched, looking like a predator who had just had their prey stolen out from under them. Her owns eyes were silver, the scent of Rory's blood and the betrayal at watching Blaise drain him making her fangs pop as she snarled again. "Comment osez-vous!"
It all happened too quickly for Logan to comprehend. One minute, he was trying to understand why the hell his brother was beating the living shit out of him, and the next the Kindred bloke was just pouncing on him. Logan had been knocked to his knees following the punch to the face, and he could hardly even catch his breath, winded from the elbow to the stomach. He watched in horror as the suited guy bit down on his brother's throat. No, he wasn't foreign to witnessing something like this, but he was foreign to it being his brother as the prey. He was foreign to it being an unknown Kindred on the receiving end. What the hell? What the fucking hell? Was this guy going to Embrace his brother, right here, in front of everyone? Because Rory was in a bad fucking mood? Tears of horror spilled down Logan's cheeks when his brain inevitably drew him back to a place in the past he didn't like to revisit. "No," he could only choke out breathlessly, drowned out by the woman's angry yelling. "Please... dinnae... nay Rory!"
Rory went limp in Blaise's arms and just at the last minute, Blaise pulled back, watching the Scot's face and holding him against him so he didn't fall to the floor. He ran his tongue over the punctures on Rory's neck just as the inevitable swarm of armed soldiers poured into the room. He didn't say anything, in fact, he ignored anyone but Rory, feeling under his fingerstips that Rory's heart was still beating, albeit slowly. He didn't need to find a pulse point... yet another luxury of being a Kindred. He lifted Rory up into his arms with ease and carried him back over to the bed, and it was only now that he looked at the other occupants of the room, his eyes still blazing silver. "No one touch him," he demanded in a growl, holding his hand up so no one approached. "He will need a blood transfusion immediately. Dépèchez-vous!"
Graham, who was standing in in Riley's absence, just stood in there leading the team, dumbfounded. He closed his eyes for a moment. "Fucking hell. Riley is going to be pissed," he realised in a mumble.
Juliette didn't look at anyone else but Logan as she moved to help the Buchanan brother to his feet, keeping her arm around his waist briefly before she was sure he had his balance. The truth was she wanted to rip someone's throat out. She wanted to attack Blaise for what he had done, but the was also a part of her that knew that in the end it was probably inevitable. Sooner, or later they would have had to have gotten Rory under the influence of another clan. She had just wanted it to be hers - and for her to do the biting. "Non, he is not. Sergeant Finn knew that this would happen if things got out of hand."
"And you don't think, Mademoiselle Rousseau," Graham began, biting out the words as his own annoyance and frustration set in, "that he would have ordered it done sooner had he believed it was a sound option? We were dealing with this. Who removed the damn restraints?! If I find out it was either of you two, I'll make it my personal hobby to ensure you never set foot in this place again!"
Logan was obviously about to respond to that, even if he was barely managing to remain on his feet with Juliette's assistance. In fact, to Blaise, it looked like he was trying to get away from her, and he was clearly visibly distressed. "He removed them himself," was Blaise's response as he looked at the soldiers challengingly. By the time they got to view the CCTV footage, the dust would have settled anyway. Right now, let them believe whatever the hell they wanted. "He has broken ribs and a broken arm, yet he still managed to strong-hold and injure a Secret Intelligence Agent. Does that not tell you something? I have not injured him. He will recover. Juliette, you are to leave and take Agent Buchanan to where his partner is located. We will discuss this in private as soon as I speak to Sergeant Finn. As a matter of urgency, merci," he requested directly to Graham, holding his gaze pointedly as he blatantly indicated he wouldn't be speaking to him further.
Juliette being dismissed so quickly was only serving to fuel her anger even more, but she got a hold of her self and as she took a hold of Logan's waist again, her eyes turned green. "I'm hardly going to bite you, mon ami. I only have teeth for one Buchanan, and something tells me that opportunity has well and truly passed, hm? You do not need to fear me," she murmured against his ear as she led him from the room. As soon as she did leave the Agent with his partner though, Juliette was going to need to hunt.
