(no subject)

I just got home from work and I am drained. last night was my first death while alone in the office working third shift. It was one of the sadest nights I have experienced while working at the hospitol. A guy came in codeing from the ambulance (that pretty much means he is nonresponsive) and his family came in about the same time. well we couldn't let the family go back yet so they were all talking. it turns out the guy was only 46 and was a single parent. His son had apprently done CPR on him for about fifteen minutes until the ambulance arrived. Just to watch him explain what had happened ripped my heart out. he couldn't be much more than 17 (the son). There was every bit of fifteen people there. About ten minutes after the family arrived  the doctor called them up to a private hall and broke the news that he had die. You could just tell the moment that they found out because they all burst out sobbing. My heart just broke for them. they stuck arround for about an hour after they found out. they just cried and paced. The son was a mess. You could tell that he had hit the denial stage. I just wish there was something more that i could have done for them.

You never think that your life can change just like that. Last night was an eye opener.
