Wow, talk about stubborn hair! Well, my hair pretty much does whatever the heck it feels like doing regardless of product or style... However, if you straighten my hair the RIGHT way, it will stay (obviously as you see in the picture). Honestly, with as coarse and thick as my hair is, I find I have better luck in African American salons - and that's typically where I go. Their straighteners are a lot hotter/stronger to deal with more textured and curly hair - the products they use also tend to be more agreeable to making my hair tame down as well.
When you've tried to straighten your hair do you go straight to the hot iron, or do you blow it out first? If you blow it out as straight as you can with the flat attachment on a dryer, then use a hot iron at 180 degrees with some heat protectant olive oil spray maybe it would work? Well.. I guess it may depend on your hair too. I have very thick coarse hair, if your hair is thinner and more fine I could see how it would be hard to make it stay in any style (straight or purposefully curled)
