I pledge allegience

I find it so hard, sometimes, to comprehend why and how some people have the thought patterns they do; why they fail to make simple connections. It seems like the typical human brain is hardwired to deny reality and circumvent it in any way with detours to force the validity of their beliefs ( Read more... )

I didn't know Under God wasn't originally in the Pledge of Allegiance. I understand why people want that phrase taken out and it wouldn't bother me if it was. But, at the same time it doesn't really bother me that it is in there either. I said the pledge every morning all through school and saying those two words didn't harm me even though my beliefs are probably different. Take the phrase out or leave it in, it doesn't matter to me.

I don't like people conservative or liberal that are over zealous or just plain extreme in what they believe. You can't have a conversation with them about politics because they are always going to be right and you are always going to be wrong. Every once in a while when I post something to do with politics on facebook I'll get someone who just has to take time out of their day to tell me I'm wrong and bash the democrats. Which serves to remind me why I tend to avoid talking about politics as much as I can. I know it's not just the conservatives and liberals are like that too, but I don't have any experience with other liberals telling me I'm wrong all the time, hah.

I agree. I've never said the pledge of allegiance simply because I feel it's words don't reflect the true nature of our country and it's people - doesn't have much to do with the "under god" (though that's bit of a lie in itself considering the many religious beliefs in this country..but I digress).

I'm not a huge fan of militant believers, myself. Regardless of what it is they actually believe in. If you're militant in believing about Santa I'd probably get disgusted/annoyed with you too lol

My main peeve, is that if people are going to speak about their beliefs, I wish they'd at least have the common sense and mental awareness to research and fact check and understand that not everything in this world is as truly as they see it through their eyes.
