This is for the August challenge over at
watch_bollywood where they're doing Jodi Manifestos. So I picked..... Juhi Chawla and Shah Rukh Khan!
These two are my ultimate favourite bollywood jodi. They're just so fantastic opposite each other. They have a sort of natural chemistry with each other which I guess comes from them being friends in real life. Not to mention they're both super gorgeous and have brilliant comic timing.
They've done a lot of films so I've had to split it into two parts. The second part will also include links so you can watch all the movies or at least scenes/songs from them.
So here are all the full length films they've starred in and why you should be watching them!
Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman
The first film to pair these two together, Juhi was the more established actor and had to be convinced that SRK was the "next Aamir Khan" for her to initially agree. The film is sort of inspired by the earlier Shree 420. Raju (SRK) comes to Bombay to get a good job and on his first night in the city has a bucket of water thrown on him by Renu (Juhi). They both find the other annoying for the first couple of days until they begin to understand each other and become friends. However problems start once Raju gets a new job and his new boss (Amrita Singh) begins to like him too.
Watch it because: SRK and Juhi are so young and cute! The film is also funny in places and the characters are relateable, even 18 years later.
Yes Boss
I already did a write up of this which you can see
here. This is my favourite SRK/Juhi film of all time. Rahul and Seema are middle-class people in Mumbai dreaming of becoming rich and settled. They meet (and are snarky to each other) but can't really get together because of the whole becoming rich thing. Then there's more problems such as Siddharth (Seema's new boyfriend), Sheela (Siddharth's wife) and Bhushan (Siddharth's brother-in-law who wants his job).
Watch it because: Basically this film is just fun. I would recommend it for the numerous cute scenes between SRK and Juhi especially since they have to pretend to be married for most of the film which leads to some comedic situations.

Cracktackular fun! Need I say more? Bablu and Sonia meet on the way to work and have to share a taxi. I just love all these totally original cute-meets this pair seem to have. Bablu is very child-like and sweet and Sonia finds him cute. But then Mannu turns up and he looks exactly like Bablu! To escape jail he tricks everyone into believing he is in fact Bablu. Fun hijinks ensue resulting in amusing times for all viewers. Farida Jalal also stars as Bablu’s wrestling-enthusiast mother along with the gorgeous Sonali Bendre who plays the moll.
Watch it because: If you can appreciate some slight absurdity (think Baadshah) then this is definitely the film for you. In case you didn’t already know, this is the film where SRK drags it up (and makes me slightly horrified that such a beautiful man can make such an ugly lady). I recommend everyone watch this film at least once. But it is definitely a love it or hate it movie.
Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani
Such an underrated film! Like SRK always says, the world just wasn’t ready for PBDHH. The film focuses on the commercialisation of the media and Ajay and Ria are newscasters for opposing channels. The two have to work together though when they come across an innocent man who is being accused of terrorism. The film manages to promote its social message while also being funny along the way. (SRK's half eaten banana makes an appearance)
Watch it because: This is another film you should definitely watch despite ehat reviews might tell you.(Although SRK and Juhi would have probably appreciated it more if you watched it when it released :P). Once again funny and cute scenes between SRK and Juhi (can you see a recurring pattern?) as well as a really good film.
One 2 Ka 4
This is not really one of their better films. The plot is slightly confusing and there's my pet hate: obnoxious kids. Arun and Geeta have to live together to look after the children of their dead friend despite not getting along very well. Then there's some plot twists thrown in that I don't really care about and don't make sense. If the film had concentrated just on Arun and Geeta looking after the children I think it might have done better and I might like it better.
Watch it because: The songs are brilliant except maybe "I am sorry". I was obsessed with Khamoshiyan when the film came out even though I don't usually like Lata Mangeshkar. There are some cute scenes between SRK and Juhi worth watching.
Bhootnath
Juhi Chawla and SRK should just play husband and wife for the rest of eternity in my opinion! I initially like everyone else thought Shah Rukh was just a special appearance in the film but he's so much more. Despite his absence on the actual screen he's still very relevant to the film and to Anjali and Banku.
Watch it because: As usual they have great chemistry together and funny scenes rather than being all lovey dovey with each other about their physical separation. The film belongs to Banku and Amitabh's Bhootnath really but it is still a good film and if you come across it you should stop and watch it definitely.
