I'm reading Michael Cunningham again since I finished "Curse of the Chalion." It was pretty much awesome, even if the end was a bit wonky. I even wrote a review on goodreads. But back to Cunningham, my love with him is an outlier to what I usually enjoy. I don't devour his characters, nor do I demand especially compelling ones as I might with any ( Read more... )

Not yet. Looks like it was released in 2006, around the time I was out of school and fell out of reading. I will add it to my queue. But I'm excited for a story about Whitman. o/

Michael is heavily involved/one of the . . . big names? stones? of my writing program, so we read Specimen Days for class and had him talk about it. It's kind of fantastic. It spans a few different genres too, so you get a nice mix up that way.

I love his writing style :( I envy it greatly.

Oh man, you've met Michael? I'm so jealous. He came to a friend's library a few months ago. If I weren't so deathly afraid of Philly driving, I would have gone there to see him. I do love when he does his different generations thing, one of the things I adored about The Hours.

It's so beautiful.

I have! He's a great guy to meet with too, esp for anyone who loves writing or reading. One of those authors who are really easy to talk to. Specimen Days is similar. . . ish . . .

And brilliant. Brilliantly beautiful.

I always thought he would be like that, judging from the way he writes.
