My mind, let me show you it: the open question thread!

You might not know this about me, but I'm prone to sudden all-consuming enthusiasms that sometimes lead to weeks or months of creativity, sometimes completely change my life, and sometimes amount to nothing in a very short period of time. On the other hand, you might have been saying this about me for years for all I know. Either way, you may be interested and/or amused to discover that I'm thinking I might try "blogging" on this new thing the kids are calling "LiveJournal."

As in, y'know, actually writing stuff here more than once a month.

The thing that got me started on this radical notion? Reading Penelope Trunk. It's my cousin's fault. He came to Madison for a business trip last weekend and stayed with his friend, Penelope--note that he didn't ask to stay at my place, so don't go thinking I'm a bad cousin--and when I went out to lunch with him he told me her name, and later I looked her up because that's what one does, and now I kind of can't stop reading her blog, which is called Brazen Careerist. (Has everyone else been reading it since 2006? I wouldn't be surprised.) She encourages blogging. I've been thinking I wanted to write more here, anyway. How convenient!

I will never be a blogging machine like some people (*cough*jaylake*cough*), but I'm a pretty decent expert on being me, as well as on some other stuff that might be of interest to the readers, writers, and parents of unruly children among you. I think I'll need some help to get started, though. Are you a person with questions I ought to answer? Then you can help me by posting your questions in comments here. I'm going to commit to one "blog post" of decent substance each week until I get used to the phenomenon, and then we'll see from there. Now question me, people!

new project omg!, jay lake, penelope trunk, blogging
