2008 Books #25: Rude Mechanicals, by Kage Baker

This one is a very short Company novel that doesn't have much to do with the main events of the other Company novels, but is a side romp with Lewis and Joseph, two characters who are featured throughout the series. Joseph needs to acquire a certain jewel, and he ropes Lewis into his attempts to get it; hijinks ensue as Lewis tries to balance those efforts with his work as the director's assistant for a lavish production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. The story is not complex, but it's a lot of fun to read.
