When I read Sellers' book, Page after Page, last year, it was a turning-point in my writing. That was the book that clicked everything into place for me, and got me writing in a way I hadn't before--consistently, regularly. It was the right time for me to read what she had to say. I had developed a much higher tolerance for frustration through the miracle of raising small children, and I had learned that although there were many pursuits that had been worthwhile along the way to being thirty-five years old, I still needed to write fiction, and get good at it. I'm fond of Page after Page. I recommend it. My writing friend, Kat, didn't care for it, but it worked for me.
Chapter after Chapter, I thought, would be equally good. But instead, it was way better. I think that, once again, it was the message I needed to read, with this subtitle: "Discover the dedication and focus you need to write the book of your dreams." I'm not writing a novel yet, but I'm writing a novella, which is tricky enough, thank you, and advice about how to stick with it and learn from the process of finishing is delightful at a time like this. The advice and exercises are sensible, friendly, and ass-kicking, the way your best writing buddy should be. A+, highly recommended, don't miss it.
