2007 Books #25, 26, & 27: The Jenny Casey Trilogy, by Elizabeth Bear

Okay, understand that I'm not attempting to write a real book report that says anything deep about what I've read, eh? Because I know what that looks like, and this is not it.

The individual books in this trilogy are called Hammered, Scardown, and Worldwired. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone who likes science fiction. They have cool SF elements for pretty much any interest. I read the first two books a few months ago, then sidetracked for a while before reading the third, so now a lot of it blends together, and honestly, I think that 'most anything that I could write about this trilogy might turn out to be a spoiler! I will say these things, though:

- Artificial intelligence HEAVEN.
- Polyamory done really, really well.
- Actual real space aliens!
- Characters that seem so much like real people that I'm wondering what they're up to now.
- International intrigue!
- Nanotech aplenty.

I'm going to have to say that Elizabeth Bear is one of my writing idols--not only a crazy-prolific writer with a great sense of humor, but also someone who seems like a very nice person--so you wouldn't be wrong to suspect that you will see notes about more of her books in this journal. I happen to have three more of them on my bookshelf!
