Ah, I spouted off before completely checking my facts. Still, this quote is thus all the more bizarre:

Um, yes Michael. So are the rest of us who have seen the evidence. In fact, we have surpassed myth to model here. It's a peculiar (and frankly self-centered) way of saying 'I feel this is correct' without mentioning that um, so does most of the field.
Kind of akin to someone saying 'I am quite sure that there is something to this theory of gene selection,' or 'you know, I personally feel that gravity is more than just a whimsy.'
