Not a good night
The Dallas Police dept has 1 less car tonight. Tonight we were running Code 3 to help in a foot pursuit when making a sharp right turn at 35 mph the brakes on our 2001 squad car failed. This subsequently sent us flying into a ditch, fence and tree. The car was totaled, airbags deployed and the Fire dept said the only thing that saved us were our bulletproof vests which absorbed the shock of the seatbelts, and seatbacks/airbags. Because of these, we walked away with minor bruising. I always knew in teh back of my mind that while running "hot" this could happen, and am glad everyone walked away...
