Paycheck frustrations.

I called my bank to see if, by chance, there were any "unclaimed deposits" floating in their little financial cyberspace. There weren't. They gave me instructions on what information to get from my payroll department, and I thanked them and hung up.

I then called Carmelle at work and explained to her the situation. She misunderstood me at first (Her: "This week? We don't get paid this weekend." Me: "I know. I didn't get paid this PAST weekend like you did, and therein lies the PROBLEM.") and it took a few explanations to get it right. She then wasn't sure who I should call, so she gave me a number to the corporate Human Resources office, to a man named Ron B.

I called up Ron - no answer, so I left a message for him explaining what I needed and asking him to call me back sooner rather than later. A few hours pass, and no phone call. I finally called back and asked to speak to someone else, only to find out that Ron is out on vacation this week. (Isn't that the way it ALWAYS happens?! The person you need is always conveniently on vacation!)

The new gal listened to me and then told me the new company's procedures. If you are a termination (which under their definition, I am, even though I technically "resigned" rather than was "terminated"), your last check is issued by mail. However, to get this check, you have to let your manager know whether you'd like to pick up your check at the store or have it mailed to your home. I think we all know which option I would have picked... HAD ANYONE ASKED ME ABOUT IT!

So she was like, "Oh, gee. Do you want your paycheck now?"

*headdesk*

Then she told me that if I wanted it mailed to my home, I needed to sign a certain piece of paperwork. She asked me if I had a fax machine close by, and I sighed heavily. I told her that I really didn't want to go back into the store, and since she already knew who I was (ie. "the girl who was robbed... twice"), she told me that she'd get the manager's approval to cut the check without the paperwork. They are going to overnight mail it to me tomorrow morning, and I should have it by Saturday morning at 10:30am.

*sigh*

It's coming. Who knew I'd have to ASK for my last paycheck?!
