These little BIG guys are so adorable it kills me! XD
These dragons tell a tale of woe, I'm afraid. You see, I made a host of these dragon friends as favors for Jack's end-of-season soccer pizza party tonight.
But we live in Minot, North Dakota, and we're currently getting dumped with 12-18" of snow in a crazy Spring blizzard. (And we were just one day away from having all the snow completely melted!) Kids were let out of school at noon, and by that time the party was already canceled.
But, of course, I'd made the cookies yesterday to give them time to fully dry. *sigh*
I'd been salivating over
this cookie cutter for some time, and when my son's team decided on "Red Dragons" as their name, I knew it was meant to be. I'd been saving it for just this special occasion all season!
Above is how I originally pictured the dragons in my mind, and I like how they turned out. I traced the cutter on a sheet of paper, and then I sketched inside it to plan how my dragon would look. From pencil to icing, he didn't change too much. :-)
However, after I had 14 dragons iced, I ran out of red piping icing! Instead of making more icing, I chose to use my leftover bits of very dark chocolate brown icing (from another project) to outline the final cookies. I think I liked that look even more!
The darker outline really makes him POP!, I think. I took this photo of one by himself so that I could reference it later for details, should I need to make dragons again. In the meantime, I'm just hoping for a quick rescheduling of the pizza party so these don't go to waste! :-)
