Hello all. I'm here at work right now just kind of chillin. It's been a slow day today and I'm loving it. I have had enough time to do most of my homework while on the clock. Because of this I think I might go out for a few beers at the pub tonight.
Yesterday however was a completely different story, it was the busiest and most exciting day I have had in a while. After class I helped set up for the open mic day we had in the ballroom. That was a blast, we had alot of really talented people show up. The international student orginazation put on a demonstration of african drumming, several people read some very moving poetry, we had a few singers, and a few people from the theatre put on a skit that was so funny i almost peed myself. All in all it turned out very well with the exception of a small problem with the lighting.
After open mic was over we had the first sga meeting of the year at 3:30. It was very cool and very professional. I never did any student gvt when I was in high school because all it was was a giant popularity contest and the orginization held no true power. I got swarn in as one of the 15 student body senators, and we held a ceremony for the new student body presedent tom dinh. During the meeting i got put on the budget committee, and after the meeting the Lt. Governer of florida gave a speech.
After the whole deal was over we broke up into groups for small talk and whatnot and I got to talk to the sga representative for the ISO, this really really cute japanese girl. I told her all about my traveling around the world and how i want to go back to japan and teach and stuff. She was very nice and so totally cute, if she doesent have a boyfriend i want to ask her out sometime. Anyway, their first meeting of the year will be on the 13th and i am definatly going to be there. Even if things dont work out with her the iso seems like a club i could get very interested in.
After talking with the girls from the iso i started talking to the leader of the veterans association on campus and asking him about his club and what they do. This club seems really cool too, it basicly consists of as he put it "a bunch of us vets just hanging out and building comradery and espri de corps" he said the first meeting will be in september and that some of the meetings in the past consisted of visiting the veterans hospital, going to the shooting range, and my favorite drinking lots of beer.
Once everything was wrapped up I helped close down shop and went home. I was exhausted by then and as soon as i got home and finished dinner i passed the fuck out. I woke up at about 5:30 this morning though so i had enough time to finish my homework and start on my english paper.
