It's been awhile, gah. Well, hubby has been out to sea this week, and was half of last week. At least they got to come home for the weekend, and will be home tomorrow. The only good thing is all these little underways are preparing me for the big deployment, which I don't really feel like thinking about right now :P It's been okay, studies and going to the hospital and Red Cross are keeping me plenty busy.
I have begun to notice more and more what a military town/area this really is. I was even thinking about trying to become an Ombudsman (military spouses who run eents and support groups on base for all the spouses and children) Here's a small glimpse:
You know you live in a military town when:
-They sell camaflauge lampshades.
-People look at a military ID and actually know what it is. No responses like, "Oh, I couldn't figure out what state that is from!" (Happened to hubby in CT restaurant last time, amusing).
-85% of cars have military base decals on them.
-Rush hour is between 3 and 4:30 instead of 5 and 6:30.
-The local plumbing company has "we offer military discounts!" in their commericals...along with everyone else.
-The youngest looking couples in the world are walking around with 2 or 3 kids. (You know...hubby's gone for six months and BAM! Baby)
-Instead of just having a teacher of the year award, they have a "Military Spouse of the Year" award. Mmhmm.
-"I love jet noise" is the most #1 selling bumper sticker (navy air base 5 minutes away).
-And most of all, almost all of your neighbors in your townhome are military families.

Ah yes, good ol' VA Beach/Norfolk. It's growing on me. The people are awesome,- especially Aspen. She's our next-door neighbor with her baby and navy pilot hubby. They moved here only a few days after we did, and are originally from Arkansas so they have that kick-butt southern hospitality. Very cool people, along with the rest :) I do have to say though, we have talked a lot about moving back to the Chicago area someday. Not right in the city, but in the suburbs like we did last time. We both were really happy there, and know of job opportunities. You never know, it just might happen. That'll go over huge with my dad, who keeps telling me we "live to far". VA Beach: 430 miles. Chicago: 900. Yeaaaa...

We have kept up on our Saturday or Sunday (depending on what either of us need to do the other day) lighthouse crusades. He was actually thinking about us registered the Escape in VA just because it has lighthouses on the plates ::shakes head::. We're pathetic. I don't know why, but visiting the lighthouses just puts us at peace. We're dorks, I know.

Last Sunday we took a small detour, however, and ended up in Washington D.C. That was mucho fun. Went to Arlington National Cemetary, the White House, Vietnam and Lincoln memorials, and the Capitol. We plan on going back when we have our guests, there's soo much more to see.

I talked to Will, the brother-in-law, tonight. He's fallen in love. He's even talking marriage, it's sooo cute. I'm really happy for him, that he found someone he clicked with like that. Their mother is freaking out, realizing how much older her sons are getting: hubby 26, Will 29 next month. Everyone keeps teasing her :P But the truth is, my parents are actually both older than she is.
I am worried about Papa, Marshall and Will's grandfather. He's really sick, they think he had another heart attack. Will went to visit and papa didn't recognize him for awhile. :( I've been praying for him and keeping him in my thoughts, I really hope he's okay. He's the nicest man, and everyone in the family is so close to him.
I don't know if anyone told Cheryl (their cousin and newbie navy wife) yet. She actually lives in Portsmouth, which is another town in the area around here. We talk quite a bit, but I feel like the immediate family should be the ones to tell her. I just read Sam's journal too, and am also keeping her mother in my thoughts and prayers. I sure hope, and truly believe, that they'll both be alright- and hope Sam knows she can call at any hour, any day. XOXO

Guys are so silly sometimes, you can say something right to their face and they just don't get it. I've noticed this a lot. Adair, if you would like me to shake Jared when I'm in CT and scream, "SHE LIKES YOU, WHAT DON'T YOU GET!?" I shall ::innocent smile::. MWAH

Should be in CT in two weeks, for Easter weekend. Marshall is supposed to be on duty the day before Easter, but this time he is almost positive he'll be able to switch it. I hope so, I really want to go to CT especially since James is home and threatened my life if we didn't come, but I also don't want to go alone since he'll be gone every other holiday this year. We'll only be in CT for the weekend, but I know I'll be there other times when I can throughout the year. I don't love CT, but I love my people in CT. I hope they still love me!! Arg, PMS making me think the world hates me, haha. I think I'll go utilize my angst for something useful and finish cleaning the house and pay some attention to my kittens. Love you all!
