intro
hi. my husband's currently in OS school. we got our orders for, where else, Norfolk. we havent gotten our move date yet or anything else. which is stressful. when i was a kid, my dad was in the Navy til i was 16 when he retired after 21 years, and i thought this stuff just magically fell into place perfectly. i was so wrong lol. i have an almost 21-month-old son. i know we have next to no chance of getting into housing, but it wouldnt be so bad if the woman from Housing Office would return my calls, or at least BE in the office when i call to let me know the approved apartments i can look at (online). i know she's busy, but i've called nonstop for 4 days now. i have no idea where to look in Norfolk for a decent neighborhood where we wont get murdered. or if i should just look in VA Beach or somewhere else. anyway, i'm in Indiana right now, originally from Norfolk VA, ok Portsmouth (Navy brat here lol). lived everywhere in the US where the Navy could send you except WA state. luckily throughout my husband's boot camp and schooling, our son has kept me too busy to really think about missing him, so i'm hoping he'll do the same during deployments. having experienced deployments as a kid, i'll be able to help our son deal with it in a way my mom couldnt do with my brother, sister, and i. since i can relate to it. the wife side of deployments? no experience whatsoever so far lol. i'm always open for new friends too.
