Of course you may ask. I've been physically disabled for about 17 years now. It began with an on-the-job injury to both my feet, causing Plantar Fasciitis, which is a stretching of the tendents that go the length of the underside of the feet. They get tightly stretched like a rubber band, but don't go back in place. I went through 1 1/2 years of physical therapy but they could never get fully back to where they were before. At the same time, I developed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia (basically rheumatism in the muscles - mainly near the joints) but it also settled into the calves of my legs. It is a lot like having MS but I don't lose the controls of the nerves controlling the muscles. I do have tightened muscles in my legs all the time, and when I stand for more that 10 minutes, or walk more than half a block, they tighten up even more. And no amount of physical therapy helps anymore, in fact it worsens them because of the extra working of the muscles. On top of all that I get severe fatigue, unlike any regular tiredness, my fatigue often puts me flat in bed for long periods of time from 3 days to the more severe several months, and I only get up to use the bathroom and such. Often times, even just trying to take a shower is so exhausting that I cannot do it.
Along with that I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome (a horrible thing to have that causes me severe pains just like being in labor before childbirth) and it happens every few days or so. I have Restless Leg Syndrome that is a nasty little thing that makes your legs move and twitch on their own and not only is it very annoying it is quite uncomfortable and a great problem. I've developed allergies because with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome it lowers your immune system, CFS is also called CFIDS which means Chronic Fatigue Immune Dysfunction Syndrome.
So, with all of this I am in constant physical pain, not only in my legs but in most parts of my body, I have severe insomnia and I mostly sleep during the earlier part of the day and am up all night, and there are a lot of other things to this too. If you look up online about CFIDS and see the list of symptoms you will better understand. And with Fibromyalgia I have very sensitive tender places on my body where I get a lot of pain which is constant and never ending.
About 6 years ago, I tried to purposely overdose with a bunch of over-counter meds but only made myself nasty ass sick. So I put myself into the psych ward of a hospital, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder due to Post Tramatic Stress Disorder due to my childhood and my crappy marriage with being terribly abused. So I also get some "really fun" panic attacks, and have had to even go to the ER with them because they are just like a heart attack when they are extreme, but I do get some none-extreme ones a lot and I have meds I take that work fast and help.
My advice: Never get older than 40, you totally begin to fall apart. LOL.
I walk with a cane inside my apartment, but I have to use a mobility scooter or a wheelchair if I go shopping or anywhere where I'd have to walk much.
Hey , you dont know me but I was touched by your post:/I understand about some of your pain as I toooo have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue when I was very young (19yrs). I could not walk properly for 5 years and this has an extremely bad impact in all aspects of your life. My fibromyalgia was triggered from a cycle racing accident when I was trying to get healthy. Then I took natural therapies and exercised to get over the fatigue and improve the immune system. There is alot of new research at the moment and new books/info on the net. I worked in natural therapies for a few years and trained in Reflexology, every little bit helps. Have you tried malic acid, magnesium or other supplements that support the immune system?????You generally have bad sleep and require constant supplements to keep the body from cycling the illness over and over. The liver needs to be treated as well , grape seed extract, pine bark, try spirulina and natural same antidepressant which is good for fibromyalgia. Everyone responds to different treatments but if you need heaps more info or help from me, I'm happy to do soo:}I am managing my condition but it has been a loooooong road to health. Stress is a major part of this illness too like you say, just thought it would help to let you know there is someone else that you can talk to about this if you need it:)happy to help and alot of people just dont understand how bad you feel:/
Thank you for your response. I haven't been able to afford the natural remedies, I can't even afford enough food every month. So I haven't had the chance to try those things you mentioned. I've been under a whole amount of stress, I've been being discriminated against by both my last apartment manager and my present ones too. So I have to go through the stressful processes of reporting them to the proper agencies and go through all that crap. I'm also planning on moving once again, it just never eases up. And I had to have a strong talk with my homecare assistant today, to tell her to not clean so much. For me having a house too clean drives me crazy, I hate it that she is cleaning things that were already clean, and her busy activity really bothers me a lot, it pushes me into anxiety and minor panic attacks.
I wish I could get into a place where I can relax more, find things to laugh at a lot more and ease off my anxiety without pills.
