(no subject)
i have da power! no, just kidding. i'm currently mooching off of UH's sweet sweet electricity. i've never been this deprived of electricity for this long. it's about six days now. as far as i know, i'm the last one out my friends to get their power and i've been told we'll be getting power after monday. possibly monday. god, let it be before monday.
it's been miserably hot, dark, and boring week. i don't want to get into the disaster down by the galveston area because it's too sad, and it's not my place to really compare what people there are going through, but i just want to selfishly vent while i can.
yes, me and the family survived the storm. minimal damage to the house other than a leak in the roof that made a pee stain-looking patch on the ceiling. all the trees fell down or at least the branches did. very surprised that none of the windows broke nor cracked. i have two windows on either side of my bed and it was scary as hell when it passed at around 5 in the morning. i just scrunched at the very corner of the bed and tried to sleep away the hurricane.
we never lost water, but there was a boil advisory for a day. good thing i took a shower as late as i could before the hurricane came. it was fricken hot the first few days until the cold front came (if you can call 80 degrees a cold front). to be honest, the house is starting to reek with smell of stale air, cooking and of course with the dogs inside. there's no real breeze wafting through the windows.
we were so not prepared for this at all. we didn't think it would have been this bad. of course, we had the standard cases of water and other perishables. we never really thought of losing power for this long. i don't really know what's going on the outside world other than what i hear from the 2 dollar dinky radio, which loses signal as soon as you move.
there's alot more to say, but i'm losing interest, so i'm off to waste my time browsing the net. i just wanted to say that i'm ok.
