my long overdue K-pop pimp post (of sorts).

Kangin: Can men really love each other?
Donghae: Why not, it's between human beings.

Okay, I've been in K-pop fandom for almost seven months now and haven't really made an effort to let you guys know what it's all about. I realize the "one day my FL will wake up and know who these people are" method is slightly irresponsible, but the thing is, I find primers really tedious! So in lieu of that, I'm just going to send you to the clips that got me hooked, and maybe you can get some idea of WTF I've been talking about lately.

First, there is a thirteen member boyband called Super Junior. I think of them more as a singing, dancing, and acting collective, as most of them are talented in one of those areas, but none of them excel at all three. They had a show in which nine of the members split themselves into two teams and had to write, produce, and act in short films based on a given challenge.

For example, the challenge I'm sending you to had the theme of slash between the group members. (This was the fans' choice episode, where fans voted on the storyline they would most like to see.) It is basically slash fic come to life and includes a candlelit game of true confessions and the guys only having money for one seedy motel room.

Plot: Eeteuk confesses that when he first met Kangin, his heart beat faster. Kangin starts to wonder about his own feelings for Eeteuk. Eunhyuk and Donghae flirt and grope all over the place, further confusing poor Kangin.

Super Junior: Mini Drama (Ep. 2, Pearl Blue Team)

The second clip is actually going backwards. This is the game both teams played in order to determine certain things for their slash dramas (for example, the winning team got to use a convertible). The guys have to move playing cards from one person to the next using only their mouths. Hijinks ensue.

Super Junior: Mini Drama (Ep. 2, Game)

Now, my favorite group, and the one I've been posting pictures of, is Dong Bang Shin Ki. A while back they did a series of Banjun dramas (short stories with a twist), and one of their episodes had the theme of "dangerous love."

A-Plot: Yunho gives Jaejoong some slash fanfiction to read, and Jaejoong starts to become convinced Yunho is in love with him.

B-Plot: Mary Sue meets Misery. Junsu and Changmin are rescued by a lovely girl who has no idea who they are. Uh huh.

In the BG: Yoochun is filled with melancholy after Junsu and Changmin go missing. (I had to mention him, because his performance is my favorite.)

Dong Bang Shin Ki: Dangerous Love

I debated whether to link to the Banjun dramas first or to footage of the guys being themselves, but the Banjun dramas were my gateway drug, so I know they're entertaining. Just keep in mind that the guys are playing fictionalized versions of themselves that are often wildly OOC, and they're not actors. It's all for fun.

If you watch any of these, please let me know! I want to hear your thoughts. Sorry for waiting so long to provide you guys with reference material, but I hope if you're interested you'll check these out. (For those unfamiliar, Veoh is just the HQ version of YouTube. If a clip starts out jerky, just press pause and wait for the whole thing to load. It will be worth it!)
