I had sort of a fight with my oncologist yesterday. I was supposed to start on this antibiotic therapy, but I'm already taking some other meds, so he and my doctor consulted and gave me these "sort of toxic, but you're young, so no worries" pills. I wasn't sure how many I was supposed to take daily, so I called him again and asked him. He was surprised I didn't know, and when I also added that it was the week of my period, and asked him if it was okay if I started this therapy now, he told me "well, of course, you HAVE to, otherwise it's dangerous". After a speechless minute, I asked him how I was supposed to know that, and then he went very quiet and told me he had forgotten I wasn't a doctor, and apologized.
This mix-up actually happens to me a lot, because my mom was a doctor and I grew up in hospitals, so I have a good knowledge of the stuff and use medical terms often (to my therapist's great amusement). But I'm still an ignorant person who doesn't have a degree in medicine. I'm a normal patient, completely ignorant of the matter, for fuck's sake! Thankfully I thought of asking him, because I worry a lot and fixate on every detail, but if I had been a little more trustful or distracted I could have seriously hurt myself with the wrong therapy. Terrific.
Anyway, apologies accepted very grudgingly, I started this therapy on schedule, and so far I'm having no side effects whatsoever. I'm still angry about this misunderstanding, so I decided to start Assassin's Creed III because it's been sitting there for months and I wanted to relax by going on a killing spree. I just finished Haytham's sequences, and after falling utterly in love with him I got that bucket-of-cold-water-in-the-face final scene, what the hell, I was not expecting that at all! I ended up with a couple of bugs too, as I had been warned (one of the guys I killed turned into a cooked spaghetti monster), and I'm surprised the missions are already very hard at this point of the game. I hate being stealthy, and quite enjoy throwing myself at guards and start massacring around, but so far it's been only stealthy missions with very suspicious officials, and I had to re-do them multiple times before I got them right. Can't wait to have more weapons at my disposal at least.
