A writer's brain...

Watched a good movie this afternoon.

I spent the morning doing yard work and making pancakes and bacon for breakfast, so I figured I'd duke myself one of my 'many' unopened DVD's and laze away a few hours.   I watched 'Croupier' with Clive Owen.  Not only is he spectacular to look at but he's so a great actor.  At any rate, for those of you who haven't seen it, it revolves around a writer ( frustrated, natch...is there any other kind?)  who has to take a job to make ends meet.   He ends up working as a dealer in a casino and while the mystery/thriller aspect of the movie was great, what intrigued me the most was the way his writer's muse woke up and slapped his much and nicely chisled cheek.  He became an outsider and observer of his own work and world and put it down on paper. He was riding on a bus to work and at one point looked around at his fellow commuters who were reading and thought how great it would be that one day it would be his book and his words that inspired the imagination, that his book would be the one talked about.   And  all through the movie he carried on a running character dialogue with himself, dividing his persona into his reality, which was Jack and his character in the book, Jake.   Fascinating to watch, since that is what I do.  I constantly find myself editing and taking notes during my daily life.  A phrase here, a body stance there, the way the light looks on something.  You stop and pause trying to turn it into descriptive prose or think, "Now what would my character do in the same situ?"    I'm rambling I know but....I definetly enjoyed watching the outward manifestation of my internal brain.  And as I said, the dude ain't that hard to look at either.
