Work is very quiet at the moment. I suspect as soon as we get a rush of deadlines in five minutes time, the afternoon will woosh away from me, but that'll be good because at the moment I'm bored!
Went to
jainaj's at the weekend - despite the weather warnings from the official forecast/news/my friends and family, the journey was completely uneventful. Once I'd cleared the snow off my car and set away I didn't see any more until I stopped at Watford Gap for a leg stretch. I made it to Jaina's around 7.30, found parking in her drive the hardest bit (I parked too close to her car because due to the snow I couldn't tell where there were steps and stuff and was over-cautious - I had her hold the passenger door open and I climbed out there, but then went back once I saw how much room I'd left myself and re-manouvered) and watched her make muffins. And licked the bowl.
We watched Bones and Lie to Me, and randomly Coyote Ugly, while eating pizza and some of the aforementioned muffins. Then eventually we went to bed, Jaina set her alarm for 8 and I ignored it while she got breakfast. I forced myself to awake and speak around 8.30, but we stayed in bed talking nonsense, til Jaina said "I keep hearing car door slamming and thinking they're Tim." I said "It probably is!" but didn't really mean it. Then the door bell rang. It was indeed
jossno1fan! At ten to 9! But we were already awake and he'd brought Christmas cards and biscuits so all was well.
fray101 and
mrbuttmonkey arrived some time after that, and we set off on our treacherous walk/slide to the station to get the train in to London.
We went to La Tasca and ate good food and Santa Sangria (despite me not being a huge fan of either Sangria or Cranberries, it was yumtastic!) though we probably should have ordered more in hindsight. But the service was slow and we were going to be late to meet
angelite and
generalzog so we hurried ourselves along to the theatre.
Breakfast at Tiffanys was excellent, despite the seats that were more uncomfortable than the time I went to watch us play Burnley, and the annoying girls behind who I nearly punched. But in the interval a nice usher invited us to sit in the more comfortable bit (I think he could tell we were all in pain).
After the play James Dreyfuss walked past us, we said goodbye to Mel and Mark, and went to Starbucks. Where four of the five of us were unable to order the drink we wanted because they had none. Fail.
Then it was back to Jaina's, where it turned into a pyjama party as most of us were pyjama-ed up by 7.30. Booze, chocolate, muffins, crisps, biscuits and more were consumed. We made sort of brain haemorrhages out of green Mickey Finn and Baileys, and watched Prom Night and The Midnight Meat Train, two of the worst films I've ever seen.
On Sunday morning Ryan and Hilary departed, and Tim and I stayed chatting to Jaina until we'd outstayed our welcome, so dug our cars out and headed off around lunchtime. I got home about 5 after a slow journey and a stop for a nap at Watford Gap.
Yesterday I met some of the girls from the York office for lunch as it was my day off, which was lovely, and went in to chat to everybody after that. Did the last main bits of Xmas shopping, now I just need to find a few little extra bits to put in Mam's stocking. Going to drop Thomas & Emily's presents off tomorrow night and then on Christmas Eve we're going to the neighbours' for drinks.
Boxing day should be good as Dad has paid for me, him and Julie to go in the posh exec box at the match, 4 course meal and loads of free stuff as well as seats just behind Niall Quinn, woop!
