My persistence to make a difference has led me safe into your hands

So, yesterday was my Wii party. And it was awesome. I was pleased because the meshing of friendship groups was not at all scary and there was general conversation without it being two sets of people for me to flit between! I got up earlyish and showered, and then did the final tidying up/washing up/hoovering (:P scourgeoe) and furniture rearranging. Just as fallen_wiccan rang to say she, Max and jossno1fan were on the bus, the post arrived, with my Cruise flight confirmation, a new Nectar card, and awesomeness of awesomeness, my HIMYM season two DVDs.

So I headed out to the bus stop (via the deli to get some crisps and stuff from Mam) and then collected Karen, Max and Tim from the bus, and took them to my house. Miraculously, Tim did not fall asleep on the walk from the bus stop to my house.

I fed them with crisps and yesterday's sandwiches, and we sat around chatting til with_milk and Bry showed up. Then we sat around a little more, and then remembered Hils and Bry needed Miis. We made Hils's first, then Bry's, only Bry decided she didn't want to play as herself, so we made a Mrs Fay Mii for her. Mrs Fay being our old English teacher, and the Mii looked nothing like her but it was still awesome. And slightly scary once Bry starting to play tennis with two of her. emailitin arrived while we were doing this and helped with the creation!

I started cooking the pizzas and they were done just in time for jaina_j and mrbuttmonkey walking up the path. So we ate, drank, and watched most of Tim Henman's last tennis game, and the following interview and montage, while I kept popping upstairs to listen to the Sunderland game in snatches and check on the score via teletext.

Eventually we moved the food and turned on the Wii. Quinn and I got things started with a quick game of tennis, and then things continued from there to bowling, in which I didn't suck as much as expected and even managed to beat Ryan, though Karen won.

During the night there was plenty of Wii Play and Kororinpa, then Max cracked out the Mario Strikers: Charged Football... thing. Which was awesome fun to watch and Jaina and Tim's sudden death became legendary! In the middle of all of this insanity, Hils witnessed a convention guest announcement frenzy when fray101 sent Jaina a text telling us Noah Gray-Cabey had been announced for Eclipse. Anyway, then came the Wario Ware Smooth Moves - Quinn's dancing will seriously go down in history! Then there was chatting, and scary comic conversations, before rounding off the night with a Mario Kart tournament, which Ryan won.

Finally deciding to call it a night, and with my mother back from where I'd thrown her out to for the night (my uncle's), we headed upstairs where my bedroom of extreme geekdom may have actually shocked people slightly, lmfao.

While Hils and Quinn died in bed, the rest of us congregated on the landing for one of our typically bizarre chats, and then went to bed too. Waking up this morning with nobody sitting on Tim's face, we chatted for a while, AIMed a hello to onmycrew who was still awake, and then Ryan and Jaina headed off. I brought the Snaps, Jaffa Cakes and remaining Oreos upstairs and Tim, Karen, Max and I sat in my bedroom having nerd conversations a while longer while Hils and Quinn carried on dozing.

Just after 11, Quinn gave Karen, Max and Tim a lift into York to catch the train, and Hils stayed for an hour and a bit longer when I filled her in on some of the conversations that had passed her by (with her newbieness to Heroes some of our referring to cast by their actual names had caused confusion!) and other general catching up, before she drove home in her pyjamas and without her glasses or contact lenses on/in. (The second part was not intentional.)

I then tidied up and spent the rest of the afternoon checking out the extras on my HIMYM DVDs, and, as my previous entry shows, getting freaked out by the Hey Beautiful music video while resizing/uploading/tagging photos from the party onto Facebook.

During the night I brought my laptop downstairs to type the quotes straight up, instead of writing them into a notebook. And because I'm too lazy to do this like a con report, and it's already long enough - here is that quote list in full! (Also, the face-sitting one needs the second half adding only, shock horror, I can't remember it!)

Max: "Rach, have you got a magic cupboard of food? Whenever you go away you come back with bowls of stuff!"
Me: "Yes. It's called the kitchen."

Tim: "How do I get to the outer rim?"

Tim: "They travelled with me for two weeks in a hot European heatwave."
Ryan: "Not one of those cold heatwaves, then."

Me: "I didn't know if I should say "I want to meet you!" like a crazy stalker."
Jaina: "Which you do."
Ryan: "I want to meet you. Can I have some spit?"

Jaina: "I think that Wiimote's busted!"
Me: "Does it need new batteries?"
Tim: "No, I think it needs new players."

Tim: "So Hilary's got no water?
Me: "No hot water."
Tim: "Well, that's what happens when you don't come to parties. We turn off your heating."

Hils: "Fuck off you ducks!"

Bry: "How do you quit? If you're shit?"

Me: "Hilary says they've got Cheerleader outfits in Argos and we could all wear them to Eclipse... but they've only got them up to age 7."
Ryan: "What? High School Musical ones?"
Me: "No, just general cheerleader ones."
Ryan: "What? In the Disney store?"
Me: "No, in Argos."

Tim: "My house is huge now. It's got three ground floors!"

Tim: "My hands are on fire!"

Karen: "You can have two Boos if you so wish it!"
Me: "Two boo or not two boo."

Quinn: "How can a Boo play football? It's got no legs!"
Tim: "Equal opportunities!"

Dalek bottle opener as I opened a J20: "Exterminate!"
Quinn: "Pardon me?"

Tim: "Somebody might have to sit on my face."

Ryan: "You've got Tobey Maguire under your bed?"

Ryan: "You've never been in your attic?"
Me: "Nope."
Ryan: "Where do you keep your Christmas tree?"
Me: "We get a real one."
Ryan: "Where do you keep your decorations?"
Me: "On top of that wardrobe."
Ryan: "Oh. Well.. I can't think of anything else you might need to get into the attic for."

Ryan: "1988? The north wasn't invented then!"
