*finished it*

So after a day where I was reading about twenty pages at a time and then getting on different trains, spending two hours at football, getting more trains and then buses etc, I managed to finish DH with only an hour of napping. Hooray for my ability to not sleep!

Also, as I was saying to onmycrew, I love that my entire flist was "OMG, so, HARRY POTTER!" and my one post on the 21st was "OMG, I WENT TO SCUNTHORPE!!"

Okay, so, for the most part? Love.

I was glad Harry, Ron and Hermione survived. In fact, I was glad most of the important players survived. More of them should have died, probably, to be honest.

I know JKR said when she was on Jonathan Ross that she killed two people that she hadn't intended to kill in the first place. Do we know which two those were? My guess would be Tonks and Lupin.

Speaking of which - Lupin = Lame. What's wrong with you, man! I was glad he seemed to sort himself out though poor Tonks! I like Tonks/Lupin (well. I like Tonks, and I like Lupin, and I like the idea of them both being happy), so I was pleased to hear they got married, and then it was all lame and regretful and I wished JKR hadn't bothered. And now Harry has a godson! I immensely dislike babies, especially babies in books/TV, but if I ignore that and imagine him at, say, four, I think Harry would have fun being a godfather.

Which brings me to my next point. It would have been way more interesting if she'd ended it with an epilogue that didn't, as pretty much all of my flist have mentioned, smack of badbadbadfic. I mean, I like Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione and I'm glad to know they ended up together, but honestly. Harry naming all his kids after his parents and parental figures. ALBUS SEVERUS? It's just WRONG. I think it would have been nice to end it at the most a couple of months later, and (if those were the 'ships she was determined to go with) with some nice Ron/Hermione, Harry and Ginny getting back together, and Harry meeting little Ted now the world was all well again.

I also expected that if she DID skip to the future, Harry would be Minister for Magic, or Headmaster of Hogwarts, or SOMETHING. Or that at LEAST Hermione would be a teacher, if not Head of Gryffindor/Headmistress.

Though, Professor Longbottom = awesome.

Anyway, in conclusion.

Book = awesome.
Epilogue = Vanished from my copy of the book.

Now I must actually go do the_cortex.
