(no subject)
So, I went to Bradford today for the Firefly Shindig. It was awesome seeing everyone; Yara did a great job organising it all and even though I didn't win anything in the raffle, the prizes were fantastic! The episodes screened actually made an excellent introduction to the show for someone who hadn't seen any of it. I want to convert youngdavid into being a Browncoat, but I think she'll be like me and find the first few pretty slow going. Which doesn't exactly make for a fun Toad 'n' Hils afternoon/night, me making her watch something she's not enjoying. However. We watched Serenity, Shindig, Our Mrs Reynolds, Jaynestown, Out of Gas, War Stories, and Objects in Space.
To that list I'd probably add The Message and Heart of Gold, but they're towards the end anyway. So in order to introduce someone to it, watch the Serenity feature length pilot, then skip The Train Job and Bushwacked straight to Shindig. That should work well enough, everything still makes plenty of sense. Aaaaanyway. Went for a curry with Yara, her boyfriend, some random people, Fred the French guy who lives in Huddersfield (or at least, that's where he was heading), and ... David, I think he's called. And his girlfriend. It was yummy ... a little expensive for what you got, and the takeaway next to my Uni house actually does nicer ones, but whatever. The craic was good, and our waitress was the spitting image of Mad Maya from Corrie. Which, by the way, did she actually die in the end? She was in a coma and Dev and Sunita had a hissy fit about being in the same hospital as her, discharged themselves...and then what?
Anyway. I also want to pimp brokenharlequin's new icon community challenge thingummy, _whedonicontest - a challenge community for AtS, BtVS, Firefly and Point Pleasant. You don't have to like all of them, even! Join up even if you only watch one of them! Go on! Do it!
*cough* Also, would anyone be willing to beta a Mal/River fic? I've never written in the Firefly 'verse before, and it's not even a couple I actively 'ship. It's just an idea I got this afternoon and sorta developed in my head on the train. I haven't written it yet, but I don't think it'll be long, which is why I'm asking now :) So ... yes. Like I said, never written for Firefly before, so it might need some major work!
Anyhoo, back to iconnage! And downloading season two of Arrested Development so I can have seen them all by Zach's appearance on April 10th. Speaking of which, Alan Tudyk is appearing in the April 3rd ep. Yep, I caved. I was just going to watch Zach's all out of order, something I NEVER do, and then I heard Alan was going to be in one and thought "screw it" and set the downloads away. Heh, I SUCK.
