Another concert update..
Lance, my mom and I went to see Lenny Kravitz and Aerosmith at the Palace last night. Can I just say, "What a fucking awesome show it was?!" I had one of the best times at a concert that I have ever had! Despite the shitty weather we had last night, we made good time leaving Howell at 3:30 because of the hellish snow. There wasn't much traffic because we took the back roads and came in from M-59. We grabbed some drinks and a few appetizers and listed to some good tunes from the WRIF. My mom... Miss Know-It-All told us on the way, "Oh yeah, we'll park at The Post, take the bus. I used to do that all the time!" She told us it only costs $1 and that we could take our drinks along for the ride. So, we grabbed a couple bucks, filled up our drinks and headed for the bus. Due to inflation, the cost is now $1.50 each way and you can't take your drink on the bus. So my mom and I had to slam our drinks before the dick would let us on the bus! Fucking mom! We blast through all the traffic waiting in line to get through the entrance for The Palace and make our way through to get frisked at the door.
Lance and I head to the merchandise stand while mom heads to the stand to get more drinks. She takes off and Lance and I can't find her; we end up meeting up with her at our seats. (Just like her to grab her drink and get comfortable for the show.) Lenny Kravitz opens up with a great show for Aerosmith and just before Steven Tyler and his crew come out, he sings one last song, "Let Love Live." He says if the crowd sings loud enough that he would come out and party with the crowd. As the crowd roars with his songs, LK walks off stage and onto the floor!! The next thing I know, my mom is elbowing me in the side telling me to run down to the floor so that we can get a closer look. As he walks by, my mom and I got to touch LK as he walked by!! ROCK ON! In all the years that I have been to a concert, I have never been able to touch anyone! Not even John Mellencamp and I've seen him 7 times! It was awesome. He's such a down to earth cool guy.
Aerosmith rocked The Palace and they sounded even better. 'Dream On' sounded just as good as I could have hoped for and his outfit and microphone fit in just perfect. He touched fans from the crowd and even through a couple harmonica's out into the crowd as well. This was the most laid back concert I've ever been to. He sang to a little girl sitting on her dad's head and tried to get her to sing into his mic. Of course, she was too shy, but it was so cute to see him with a child. He's a rocker, but even he's got that father side to him even still. People through hats on stage for him to wear and people were taking pictures left and right. One kid even got on stage during the show. It was great.
What a night!
