So little time! Kept meaning to update this whole past week but I've been pretty busy at work and at home! But i'll take these last few minutes at work to update cuz Mike's been bugging me, and well, since I Know he reads these and WANTS to, this one's for YOU Mike! ;)
WEll it's been hectic and crazy, but such is my life. Which is good, though at times bad. I get overwhelmed easily it seems, and last week was overwhelming in all that I did and all the new people I met! SOmething i'm NOT good at...meeting new people! :-X But I survived. Christmas was the only quiet time, which was good cuz I came into that weekend EXHAUSTED after sleepless nights wrapping presents and gathering other odd stuff. Had to take Gram home with me and on Saturday she wanted to go home all day long, and then woke up on Sunday thinking she WAS home. My parents home became her home. It was really weird. She acted just like she does at her house, and actually TOLD us it was her house. I know it was hard for my mom. I enjoyed my time home, got nice gifts. I got a new sewing basket for all my many cross stitch projects. I got my first place setting for my china pattern I recently chose. It's so pretty! :) Got some stuff from Pampered Chef for my future kitchen. :) The Chronicles of Narnia series in hardcover. Can't wait to read those! Some decorations, a shirt, a Gap gift certificate, new gloves, scrapbook stuff, and other odd stuff. It was a good haul overall. Had a nice dinner SUnday night, and both Sat. and Sun I got outside and walked around our property and the pond. I Love getting out! Too bad it was raining for Christmas :( Augh.
Monday Matt and I left bright and early for Gram's; I dropped him off and went to Roger's. Then we went right to the Ulery's to try and see everyone there. Luckily were able to catch Em and Chris. Thanks for the awesome dog massage thingie Em! I can't wait to use it, :) It was fun hanging out with Amy and Nate, catching up, and then Mark came and was a riot as always. I can't wait to read Ann Coulter!!! :)
We headed back late that night and proceeded to stay up way later and exchange our CHristmas gifts, since this was like the only time we had to do it! We sat by his family's tree and it was fun taking turns opening presents. He FAR exceeded my expectations for gifts! He kept telling me before not to expect much. Well he got me this AWESOME hunting book and signed it, a beautiful Adirondack calendar, The Purpose Driven Life so we can read it together, a jig pole for ice fishing, some ice fishing lures and bobbers, and then he carved me a hiking stick! Carved a beautiful loon into the side of it, as well as a place to notch out each of the high peaks from the Adirondacks as I climb them. He already put in my 9. It was amazing! I was totally surprised!! :) So sweet of him! He remembers I told him before that I want to someday be a 46er! He seemed to really like what I Got him too. He loves his new wallet. :)
Tuesday his mom threw a huge tea party! She throws it every year and Roger always is the official waiter; suit and all. He was funny watching as he ran all around and served us women. :) There were LOTS of yummy sandwiches and cakes. It was fun, I met a lot of women from their church and neighbor friends. ALL told me how blessed I was to be with Roger, cuz he's so wonderful and so good. I agreed, he is. It's intimidating sometimes though, to be with someone that amazing and to meanwhile feel so inadequate yourself.
Anywho, that went well overall. I had fun meeting some of Roger's friends too there. That night his Aunt and Uncle and 2 cousins came to visit and we went out to dinner. They were real nice and got me a present! A really pretty bracelet. Roger's mom got me a gift too; a really nice frame (looks weddingish, hmmm...hehe) and some scrapbook stuff, and a Bible. It was really nice of her! I got her a candle and Roger's dad and bro a fancy can of nuts. Overall a good but busy day!
Wednesday we were up at at em' at 4 am for the Boston trip; road a fancy bus there filled with over 40 kids and then the adults (well 2 buses total). I was really nervous, not knowing ANY Of the kids, and only knowing Roger, Pete, and the 2 youth leaders. Overall the trip went well. I was a youth leader assigned to a room with 3 VERY giggly girls. Well 2 were, the other was really quiet until our last night when she kept me up till 3 am just telling me all sorts of stories from her life! I didn't mind though, I was really happy to see her open up to me. Boy did those girls bring a TON Of makeup, clothing, and just STUFF Overall! Typical teens i guess, hehe. They had many crushes within the first day and I heard ALLL about them! I was impressed though with their zeal for the Lord and they weren't afraid to worship at the services. And 2 of the mornings we all held hands and prayed together. That was really cool. So there were rallies every morning and seminars, and then from 1-6 in the afternoons was free time. The kids could go off by themselves as long as they were in groups. So I had all this free time! Roger had 3 very trouble making type of boys so he was exhausted too. But the afternoons were ours and we had awesome convos, wandered about, and on the last full day we braved the city subways and went to the Boston Aquarium! It was awesome, despite everyone in the city also deciding to go that day. Oh and by the way, this youth convention was at the Sheraton hotel, which was also connected to 2 HUUGE fancy malls. So the kids could roam all of that, but had to stay IN the premises of the mall and hotel. So there was lots to do. The speakers at the rallies were great, and it was awesome singing a ton of worship songs. I am glad I went overall. I was pretty shy, WAAAAY out of my comfort zone. But I KNOW GOd wanted me there and I learned more about what I need to work on. I wish I had interacted more with my girls. I guess I didn't know how to, in the leader sense. But it was a good first time experience as a youth leader overall. And I did meet 2 girls that I got to hang out with; both from our group. One is Joelle, she's part of a family that's been friends with Roger's forever. It was awesome talking to her and stuff, she is REALLY cool. And a couple times she needed someone to talk to, so i'm glad I was there for her. Another girl, Sarah, was funny and really sweet. And others I DId talk to. Occasionally I got bold and would talk and joke around. ;) And I was glad for Pete and Roger, I had fun with them, esp. Roger ;) We did have a great time getting some quality time in for ourselves. I like the city of Boston! We were proud to navigate it together.
So the trip ended Saturday afternoon when we finally got back, and we were DEAD. We put in the extended version of The Return of the King that night and I slept through most of it and most of New Year's. Sunday we did nothing but relax. Monday we relaxed until I had to go and then I came back to Gram's. Been busy putting the house back together and catching up on sleep!!! Went to the park this morning, starting to shed hunt! I can't wait to find my first one! ;) And all the others after that, hehe. So overall, last week was a success and it was so great spending a week with Roger. I love him so much!!!!!! :) He blows me away, hehe. And from events of last week, I know that a certain question will be in the works soon...;) That's all for now! Time to go home!!!
