So I went down memory lane by reading through all my past posts and man, do I hate reading what I wrote back in high school. It seems that I only ever used this journal back then to complain about my relationship status and that just makes me want to go back in time to give a wake up call to my past self. Military seems to be where the jobs are at, currently, though. I have several friends last semester who graduated and went the military route, some with engineering positions and others as simple officers. I've had several ex-military friends speak of how great the benefits of being a vet are for acquiring opportunities, so this may be the right way to go after all - that veteran status may give you the competitive "in" you need where raw experience may just not cut it.
But yeah, this market totally blows. We may be on the right track to recovery, but that still will be a long ways off (I went to apply to a firm expecting to be told there were no internships available, but the lady told me they "just hired" four interns not a week before.) Hang in there, hopefully you'll make it through without too many scars.

I can definitely relate on the internship crap. I am thinking that since I already have a degree and that since most people who go for internships i.e. people still in college have gone back for the fall semester. What happens? I can't even get one of those and I am just like really? I thought my field job that I got would even help but no.
Hopefully, the military will give me the training to get me a job and such afterwards. I know the survival training will certainly help when trying to proove to these people that I can handle remote areas for long periods of time.
I just hate this vicious circle you get into. They want you to have experience with all these things for ENTRY level positions and it's like where am I going to get that experience if I can't get into entry level positions?!
