Well, I am here watching Planet Earth checking my stuff so I thought I would do a long overdue update. The summer is coming to an end and my senior year of college is about to begin. I am having mixed feelings about it. It has definitely been fun but that does not prevent me from being restless. School has never been really hard for me but it has been tedious and monotonous but I have trudged through it. The year that I miss the most is probably my freshman year really. All of it was exciting and new plus I have some really great memories from that year. The other two years have been fun but freshman year we were all closer and we had what seemed so much more but nothing that is good lasts forever and we must move on. Move on we did, and now senior year is here, the last stretch of college before we go on to actually start our lives. For some, like myself, we have chosen to continue our education either by requirement for our career or because we want to go on, either way, our academic career has not ended. I kind of do want it to end, I sit here watching Planet Earth yearning to jump into being a Wildlife Ecologist and see these places and help them. I want to preserve these places and my spirit wants to sore but it is caged here, until I can finally gain the education needed to set it free.
Speaking of Graduate School, I have accomplished the GREs. I didn't do particularly well but I didn't do bad. I am awaiting to get my scores right now so I can get a ball rolling on applying to Graduate schools. My four chosen were finalized as Oregon State University, Penn State University, Duke University, and University of Florida. Oregon State and UF actually are the ones I am most excited for. I still like Duke but OSU and UF have more Wildlife connections and I feel I can travel more with them. The scores should come soon and this should all be finalized.
I have been able to read again and I have made great progress in "The Skeptical Enviromentalist" which is a great book and a huge eye opener. Yes, the Earth is in bad shape but we are making progress and this is heartening to know. The author has a lot of sources too, it takes up almost a third of the book to cite everything so the guy has done his homework.
I think I will return to Planet Earth and continue to dream. Also, David Attenborough is a way better narrator than Sigourni Weaver ever will be and I am so glad that the DVD set of Planet Earth is him instead of her. I hate that Discovery Channel here in America always has her instead of Sir David. Plus I think the "American" Planet Earth is slighty different from the David Attenborough, I am not sure though.
I return to my dreams...
