Well, I definitely got into to MSU, starting in February. Time to party. I didn't have a party after I graduated because I really didn't feel like it. I had no idea where I was going in life. But now I am really, really excited, so I think it would be fun to do a BYO potluck and I can cook something up.    Time to celebrate.

On sunday Claire and I went and saw Hotel Rwanda. It was a true story about the genocides that took place there in the mid-90's about a hotel manager that barely managed to save the life of himself and about 1200 other people that fled there. It was a extremely well done movie, on par with Schindler's List. However it was also incredibly disturbing. I think Claire put it best. Schindler's List was haunting while Hotel Rwanda was scary. This probably had to do with the fact that the nazi genocide was a calculated endevor while rwanda consisted of huge mobs of crazed people with machaties that killed and raped in a ferverish (is that even a word?) way. I knew quite a bit about the genocide but this movie transformed it into something much more real, I can't really explain it. It does make me feel guilty in one way, it seems that the way our society deals with bad things is not to actually do anything about it, just make a movie and go watch those movies. Even now a similar thing is happening around the globe with varying levels of our support. You probably already know so I won't dwell on it but I have to at least mention Sudan (we aren't doing anything about it, even though a friggen UN resolution has been passed on it), and we are personly causing a huge amount of death and disruption of life in Iraq. It makes me rather ill.

On a brighter note, in China (they get all the good finds) some paleontologists have found the fossilized remains of a dog-sized (not an actual dog) mammal that had the partially digested remains of a baby dino inside. It kind of looked like a badger. A mammal large enough to eat a dino (well, a tiny dino), how cool. I was going to put a picture in here but I can't get the nature page to pop up right now and I am totally exhausted so here's the link.
