The lowdown: I have always struggled with chronic eczema problems. Three weeks ago I visited my family in Arizona and my skin suffered like never before, and having read No More Dirty Looks (a great book exposing the facts about skin products) on the airplane and already being a no-poo-er I decided to switch to cleaner, natural products as well as a more natural lifestyle. Unfortunately the first products I bought irritated my skin further (despite having all natural ingredients, idk) leaving me with face and arms covered in red, flaky, itchy skin.
I ended up switching to Aubrey Organics for sensitive skin, which I like, but though my skin has improved it is still uncomfortably tight, red, and flaky. I've been using a Shikai dry skin lotion on my arms which, again, I like, but they dont see much improvement. In addition to using these products I use grape seed oil as a base to my moisturizer, I've been drinking aloe liquid, adding a table spoon of ACV to my water twice a day, and taking fish oil capsules twice a day in addition to my multi-vitamin. I tried a homemade avocado mask but this stung my face so I washed it off a few minutes after applying it.
I really am desperate at this point... like I said I have seen improvement but not much. My face is extremely tight still... I can barely move my forehead and when I wake up my skin is so flaky I look like a freaking crypt keeper. Should I just keep at it and wait for slow improvement or is there anything anyone can recommend? I'm tired of being asked if I'm sunburn/what happened. I reallyyy don't want to give in and go to a dermatologist though.
Any suggestions??
