BACKGROUND: Kuruk’s parents were born in Nunavut where they lived for most of their lives. Shortly after the two married each other, they left Nunavut and moved to Ontario where they would raise Kuruk. Growing up, Kuruk’s father practiced Tai Chi, a martial art that his grandfather had taught him since he was fifteen years old. When Kuruk was eight, he showed interest in the Martial Art, so his father agreed to teach him.
Kuruk excelled at Tai Chi. It seemed as if he was a natural. His father chalked it to it being in his family’s blood. Because of his innate skill, Kuruk being cocky and arrogant about his fighting skills, something his father didn’t approve of and tried to discourage.
He participated in a few martial arts competition here and there until he reached the age of fourteen. However, when Kuruk was only twevel years of age, his mutant abilities activated. He was taking a bath and he caused the bath water to freeze. He panicked when that happened and caused the water to return to its natural state. Needless to say, he was freaked out.
It was months before he would figure out what happened. He had the ability to control and manipulate water. But not only that, he could do the same with earth, wind and fire as well. He never told his parents about what he was able to do.
One day, he saw breaking news on television. A team calling themselves the “X-Men” were on television. He saw a woman on there that was able to control earth, and she did it in tandem with martial arts. It was then that he attempted to use his abilities with Tai Chi. It appeared that he was able of doing it, but it worked better with water.
When he was sixteen years old, he told his parents that he was a mutant. They were both shocked to hear it. The next year was difficult, because he could tell how uncomfortable his parents were with it. He heard about the Xaiver school and decided that that would be the best place for him. He wanted to gain better control of his abilities, but most of all he wanted to find and spar with the girl that he saw on TV.
PERSONALITY: Kuruk is arrogant. His natural Tai Chi skill has caused him to develop a big head, so he thinks he is the best thing since sliced bread. While he may not be the best fighter in the world, he is still rather skilled. He likes to show off said skill whenever he gets the chance and is also pretty competitive. He will even sometimes challenge people that he knows are skilled as well to a spar or a fight. He absolutely loves to test his skill.
Because of his arrogance, he can be rather reckless. He doesn't do this purposely and despite the way he is, he actually has a good heart and would use his skill to defend people if he needed to. Kuruk is also a huge flirt, and part of the reason he likes to show off is to impress women.
APPEARANCE: Kuruk has a muscular build and he stands at around 6ft. He skin is a tanned color and he has long brown hair that stops just past his neck. His eyes are a dark blue color.
POWERS: Kuruk has the power to manipulate the elements Earth, Wind, Water and Fire. His skill with water is superior to his skill with all of the other elements.
