First day of break

Since I seem to keep missing people online- I arrived at Andy's safe and sound on Saturday at around 5ish. Got a bit lost when i got to MD- I will say I definitely arrived in Lovettsville without incident, took a brief pit stop at the church, and then wrote the remainder of the directions on my hand so I wouldn't have to be riffling through MapQuest directions while actually on the big roads. At the rate I was going, I should've gotten there by 4- but when I was on I think I70/ 270 it split, and I didn't know which one to take, so I headed for the one that said Baltimore instead of the one that said Washington, given that Glen Burnie is much closer to Baltimore- boy was that a mistake. I ended up driving aimlessly on large roads for a while and eventually got on one that said something about College Park and Silver Spring, which I identified as things that were fairly close my intended destination- ended up in Silver Spring at the bus station, found a phone card I had absentmindedly slipped in my coat pocket, and called Andy for directions. He responded by showing up with his dad so that he could drive with me back to the house. I was really irritated with myself for getting lost again- I swear I get lost more than anyone I know, and the direction I'm going always makes sense to me at the time- I mean, who the hell heads towards Washington if they want to get to the more easty section of Maryland? *sigh* All ended well though, and I am now safely and soundly in Glen Burnie.
That night we went to a party at Kevin's- I was still tired from a week of studying and the drive and getting lost, so I don't think I was as talkative as I might have been- I still get so shy at the weirdest times. But, had a good time, met more people and talked for awhile with Sarah, Katy, and Sally. Speaking of, Erin, if you're reading this, there's a game you need to check out called Once Upon a Time- kind of a card game where you're dealt eight- and given characters, places, ideas, and one ending ( like "So the rightful King was restored to his throne"- and then you have to make up a story using all those elements- except the other players can interrupt you and takeover the story to work with their ending. Made me think of you- you'd love it.
Today, started my first day of work- Andy's mom set me up as a volunteer at a special school for two of the four weeks I'm here. I was assigned to the preschool class, which has 5 kids in the morning and 5 in the afternoon. It was awesome- we did crafts and motor skills and circle time and snack. It was almost enough to make me consider doing the special ed thing after all... even though that kind of work would totally wear me down after a few years. I loved it though- best first day of work I've ever had.
Andy's mom is teaching me how to knit, and I'm proud to say I haven't given up and/or knit so tightly the needles have to be cut out of the stitches and/ or knit my hair into what I was making (as I have on previous attempts).
Mmmm, should probably go to bed, or crochet mroe of that thing I'm making, or something. But first...
LN's mandatory 5 good things
1. Made it to Andy's house safe and sound
2. homemade hot chocolate
3. meeting/ talking to new people (or semi- new)
4. a new job that's awesome
5. I'm writing all this with Andy not two feet away. :)
Naturally logging off.
