Tom's deodorant - burning!

Hello all! I'm new to this community!

I apologize if this has been addressed - I checked the tags directory but I'm on my mobile and couldn't find a way to search the tags further, blah blah. My issue is that I -- along with, you know, everyone else you know -- have been on the natural deodorant search. I tried out some Tom's of Maine Long Lasting roll-on, wild lavender scent. The first day and a half to two days, I was fine and more or less pleased with the results; I'm not much of a sweater nor a stinker, so it doesn't take too much to keep me odor-free, it seems.

THEN, I noticed my armpits BURNING. I initially thought it was the old fresh-from-shaving sensitivity, but that usually goes away momentarily, and this burning did not. It was accompanied within a day by peeling red skin which looked similar to a peely sunburn.

I read a little bit online, and found that quite a few people have had this reaction, and most of them attributed it specifically to the ingredient zinc ricinoleate.

Has anyone else had this experience? Have you found that zinc ricinoleate is the culprit? Have any other ingredients commonly found in deodorants like Tom's caused you to have such a reaction? I want to know what to look out for in the future on ingredients lists -- at least to have some in mind to watch out for. I know it's not foolproof and I'll just have to see what works for my skin, but I'd like to have a little extra knowledge going in. My skin is somewhat sensitive but I've never experienced a reaction like this with anything. I have no known allergies.

Thank you!
