I like to use dry shampoo on my roots in between washes, and I've found that cornstarch is not only the cheapest thing, but it does the best job at making my hair feel clean and matte. I've tried commercial dry shampoos before and they either don't really make my hair feel clean, or the effects don't last very long. Unfortunately I have brown hair so if I add too much cornstarch, you can totally see it in my hair. And I can't really comb it out because I have some waves and curls that poof out when I do this. I know they have commercial dry shampoos for brown hair out there, but they're expensive and I'd probably have to order them online.
I picked up a jar of moroccan red clay powder at the health food store today. It's intended for use as a face masque, but I figured I could try mixing it with cornstarch and using it as a dry shampoo. It's brown, so it probably won't show up.
Has anyone ever used moroccan red clay as a dry shampoo before? If so, do you use it alone or do you have your own recipe for it? Does it stain your clothes?
