Water-Only Hairwashing and Chlorine

Jun 07, 2011 12:56

After reading the posts here, I ended up doing the water-only hairwashing thing, so far with surprisingly good success, although I haven't hit the magic transition that people seem to talk about. (My understanding is that this typically happens about 2 months into it, and I'm about halfway there.)

Anyway, summer is here, and my apartment has a swimming pool. Because of my schedule, it's rare for me to be able to use it, but I'd like to if I get a chance. My question is, how does one deal with the whole chlorine thing with water-only? Is it effective to get the chlorine out? I hate to have to start over... How does everyone else deal with this? I would prefer the answer to not be "just don't get your hair wet", but I'll understand if that's the only route. For the record, my hair is naturally brown/gray, but is hennaed red, so I don't have the problem that some lighter blondes have with my hair turning green, if that's a factor.

As an aside, I recently met a friend who was visiting; he smokes, and was in a smoking-permitted hotel room, which, of course, already smelled to high heaven of cigarette smoke, and he smoked some while I was there. I was really worried about getting the smell out of my hair, but the water-only worked just great after only one wash! Very impressed. Also, he was smelling my hair at one point, and said that he couldn't place the scent. I asked if it was good or bad, and after he assured me it was good, I confessed what I'd been doing for the past month or so, and he was pretty impressed. I've also been doing no-soap on my body since February, and later, when we were being ...intimate... he was quite happy with the state of things.

This stuff really just ROCKS. Thanks so much to all the people in this community who turned me on to all this!
