Honestly, I make my own soap. That way I know exactly what's in it. I wouldn't dare try to go water-only because my entire family has nasty BO. I don't *think* I do - but clearly they don't either, or they wouldn't go 2 or 3 days without showering, and yet they do sometimes. So I'm paranoid. But I make really gentle soap, usually mostly olive oil. Takes longer to trace and set, but it's so nice on the skin...
I only use soap to wash my hands, or if I'm particularly grimy (say, covered in paint). That's what I've been doing my entire life and I've never had a problem.
i use a wash cloth or sugar scrub to exfoliate and that's about it. I have a soap produced locally that is sulfate free for my pits and feet if they need it, but I use that once a month maybe. My skin is really dry and i only shower once or twice a week anyway, and I have friends who would tell me if I smell funky, so far as long as I use my deodorant consistently (natrual stuff I make) I'm good to go. My feet on occasion feel like they are tight and dry though they aren't, but washing them a little more frequently makes it feel normal again.
i use nothing but water. no soap, no shampoo, no deodorant. and i don't shave.
im sure some people think i smell like a dirty hippie, but the boyfriend lets me know if i stank (and says most of the time i don't) and honestly i just don't give a fuck
once you quit using anything with fragrances though, i swear you can smell them coming off other people a mile away
I stopped using most sulfate-full, un-naturally scented laundry detergents and soaps and now if I go anywhere near the detergent aisle in the supermarket I am accosted by it, and it makes me feel sick.
I'm very minimal in my use of body products. I haven't worn deodorant in years or any antiperspirant. I shower regularly at least every other day and use conditioner when I brush out my long hair. I don't use shampoo as I find it strips the natural oils off of my hair and makes it more frizzy.
The one thing I've noticed over the years that's changed my body regimen is bikram yoga. It's done in a 105F degree room for an hour and a half and you sweat profusely. I think that being healthy and fit makes you smell better in addition to the fact that my skin cleans itself through the classes I take at least once a week. I rinse off after class but nothing makes me feel cleaner than that.
Working as a massage therapist/body worker I'm around people and bodies all day without issue. Long as I rinse off regularly and keep regular exercise I seem to do fine. I rarely notice clients odor either...
