cigarette or maybe drugstore beetles

I've got a bit of a beetle problem in my house, and was hoping y'all could help me out. I'm not sure exactly what they are, but they look a lot like cigarette or drugstore beetles. They're all over my kitchen, and I've found a few in the bathroom as well. It doesn't seem to matter much whether we leave food laying around...in fact, we were just out of town for 4 days (and cleaned the kitchen fairly well before leaving) and they were just as abundant after we returned. I haven't found any IN our food, although I also haven't searched extensively.
Any thoughts on what they might be, or how to get rid of them? They aren't too much of a nuisance really, but I'd prefer that they not get into the food.
