If you're planning on remodeling or have just remodeled part of your home and are looking to stash all the ripped out materials somewhere, contact the ReUse People. They can provide materials or take your unused/leftover materials and redistribute them. Sounds neat, huh ( Read more... )

Excellent! Habitat for Humanity also has Habitat ReStores around. Kinda the same idea.

if it's your thing that is :) if not, don't worry about it, but we are trying to expand our home and garden section to include more eco friendly advice and right now we feel we hav ea shortage of it :\

thanks! i really appreciate it :) we actually also just started a charity promotion where we donate 50 cents to the american heart association for every tip written :)

We tried to donate our cabinets to habitat for humanity about a year ago. They weren't accepting them at the time, but we managed to find a local used store that took them to resell them. It was very important that we didn't fill up landfills when there are people who can use them.
