We have a super-cute Great Dane puppy. He smells like dog, as dogs are wont to do (not like urine or anything, just like... dog). I don't notice it, but a friend came to visit and exclaimed "It smells like a kennel in here!" Well, that's not what I want, of course, so what's the best way to get the smell of dog out of upholstery? We have hardwood floors, so I imagine the problem is coming from the couch and blanket in his crate (which is in the living room because we don't have any other place to put it). I don't mind the dog getting on the couch but I would like to at least have the house smelling somewhat fresh when people visit, so I just need some kind of pet friendly upholstery deodorizer and air freshener. Would baking soda and/or vinegar do the trick for this kind of thing? I just started using that for my laundry and OMG what a difference in terms of cleanliness and softness! Can I perhaps use vinegar in a steam cleaner or something?
If this is in the memories and I missed it, just point the way! Any tips are appreciated!
