Wash armpits as you normally would, swab with witch hazel or alcohol (stings if you've just shaved though) then apply a paste of baking soda and water. No exact measurements, just wet the baking soda enough to rub your hand together then rub onto and around each pit.
That might help a bit more than what you're using. I have unbelievably strong underarm odor (even the strongest anti-perspirants only helped for a few hours), then I tried this at the suggestion of a friend. It's worked wonders for me, and you can reapply as often as necessary, completely natural. I find I can actually put it on one morning, say Friday, and not *need* to reapply till Sunday morning. ('Course my b/f likes a little bit of "essence" shall we say. - and really, it's just a little bit that breaks through by the end of the second day. And I sweat a lot.)
Does this actually prevent sweat from escaping your armpit? It sounds almost like it could block the pores. If not, I'll definitely try it because my deodorant isn't worth anything at this point.
You are my new hero. Seriously. I can't believe how well the baking soda works! It's like, white, magical powder. No smell whatsoever, and it's so easy.

Good luck.

I've never had a baby so I don't know about any postpartum smells, but I swear by it now. Worth a try anyway ... let me know how it works!
