raw cat food diet

So yesterday I finally prepared a big batch of raw-diet cat food for my two cats. When I put it down, they sniffed at it, looked up at me as if to say, “Is this *really* for us?!” looked at each other, clearly thinking “Hot damn! It’s our lucky day!” and began to eat with gusto.

The only thing I’m not sure of is how much to feed them. We used to put down 1/3 cup of dry food for them (each) in the morning before we left for work and then the same when we get home from work. Last night we put down about 1/4 cup for each of them and they only ate half of it. So this morning my husband put down two generous spoonfuls for each when he got up, and when I went downstairs about an hour and a half later they wanted more! So I gave them each another spoonful and they ate it up.

I’m guessing this is a transition time where they will gradually eat more of it as they get used to it. But I want to be sure not to overfeed them either.

I guess some data about them would be helpful  Penny is about 6 or 7 (she was a stray when we found her) and has hypothyroidism and a chronic respiratory infection that results in snotty sneezing all over the place. She weighs about 8-9 pounds. Haruka is 3 1/2 and is healthy. She’s about 11 pounds.
